As I said before, the linework here reminded me of a famous caricaturist, but I finally remembered who: Al Hirschfeld. He was good at getting a lot of detail while using very minimal amounts of lines and such like here: http://www.rodserling.com/images/herschfeld.jpg (Rod Serling, the creator and narrator of the original Twilight Zone series)
