Mmmmnope, I think weird is a bit too mild a word for you to justify having a such a strong knee-jerk reaction over, and further, the comment was a bit more in relation to this series straying into territory I thought would fit more into the artists other account than actually insulting it.
Though I do admit it's I think it's a little odd that the last couple pieces have basically been the same image but with the dragon in a slightly different pose. xD
Which brings up an interesting question, I think. Why is it people tend to ignore mountains of positive and 'oh murr' comments in submissions to lock onto the single not-positive comment and attack them for putting it there? Is there some sort of issue with human nature that prevents them from being able to tolerate someone not actually liking their things? I hear endless spouts about tolerance for other people's likes, but apparently there is no tolerance around for people who just don't have something positive to say?
And shouldn't you be leaving the commissioner to defend his own commission if he feels particularly offended by my comment? This is the part that really baffles me. It he was actually upset enough to say something, he would do so, and I would have talked it out with him. You're just some random guy who leaped in and told me to "STFU", probably without knowing either of us. Maybe you're his friend, I don't know, but I don't see any particular evidence you are. What if I had been his friend, and this was me ribbing him over his commission series? (I'm not, but assuming neither of us knows the other, that's a pretty fair chance to be putting your foot in your mouth)

Granted, I was fresh off a long day and a bit snippy making the original comment.
Yes, "oh murr" also has a contribution factor of zero but at least doesn't generally have a negative connotation.
As to the commissioner defending them self, I think you underestimate how nervous some people are getting something commissioned work in the first place. Often times a person won't feel confident enough in their ideas to defend them, they'll just refrain from expressing them in the future which drives down business for the artist.
No, I don't know the person or have any particular affinity for the subject matter, it just riled me at the time. You are right that my reaction was out of proportion in this case.
