First off, here's the original pic of this one, done by
Alioth Fox (Alioth)

So earlier this week, I ran across Alioth's page for the first time. I enjoyed all of his work, but the ones that stood out to me in particular were ones similar to this piece. They featured the pilot Alioth changing other diaperfurs' diapers.
Now, usually when I see changing pieces for the first time, I think "That's pretty cute, it's nice to see the affection between two characters during a change". But when I saw the Alioth ones, I felt something different. It made me feel super good inside, and my immediate reaction was "I really want something like that."
I actually felt kind of nervous asking Alioth to get a commission like it, since I didn't know him. But to my relief, he told me he'd be happy to draw it for me as a commission. And it makes me so happy!
I've been thinking about why this makes me feel so good, and I think I've kind of figured it out. Usually when I think about caretakers, my natural response is that I feel better about female characters doing it...they just seem so naturally soft and loving and caring.
IRL, when I think about males taking care of babies or changing diapers or anything like that, my natural reaction is either that they're a dad and they "have to", or that they're one of those more naturally sensitive men who are affectionate towards babies. I usually think of really strong, masculine men as not having anything to do with babies.
But what I love about Alioth's character is that he's a really strong, masculine fox...but, he's also a super nice pilot who's very caring and protective. There's something very safe feeling about these pics to me...it reminds me of when you see a pilot as a kid and you know that he's going to safely and comfortably fly you to your destination.
So that's why I love these pics so much...it just feels so good to see such a cool pilot fox so lovingly change a big baby bear's diaper. It just makes me feel safe and secure and like there's nothing wrong with being a babyfur/diaperfur.
On top of that, Alioth is such an awesome artist for commissions. He really works hard to make sure everything is just the way you want it and he's willing to make the pieces just right. Plus, he's super nice about all of it and has such a fun attitude during the streams. He really enjoys drawing pieces like this.
So once again, I fully, 100% recommend going to get a commission from him....I'm so super happy about both pics.
I really like the teddy bear, blanket and paci in this one. But I also really love how the pack of diapers looks so babyish (Baby Bear Diapers...hee hee) and I love the bottle of baby powder too.
And finally, for those wondering....
poochyena (Crunch, or Crunchy) was in the stream as well, and we all joked around saying that since he's such a soggy puppy, it would be funny if he was peering in through the window waiting his turned to be changed. So we ended up having an adorably creepy Crunchy watching the change through the window, and he knows that his turn to be changed is coming up soon.
It was kind of a funny little addition that just made the piece a little different.
So yay, this makes me so super happy!
