If I ran into something like that in my house, I'd panic. But out there, it wasn't that big a deal. He was easy to see, and in an obvious place, so he wasn't going to surprise anyone. :)

That's been done before. LOL Though, I didn't have that great a reaction to it. I don't like the things either. Just that one was far enough away and obvious so it wasn't a big deal. :)

Yeah, it would have. I'm not sure to what degree, but they are poisonous.

Believe it or not, I have a phobia of them as well. *laughs* I couldn't even take this photo till I got over the "Holy Hell!" factor. But I also realise that most of the time they're more likely to try to get away from me than attack me, And this feller was just hangin' there minding his own business. He was actually a good subject to shoot 'cause he didn't move at all when the flash was going off and people were standing around pointing and stuff.

yeah, they are pretty amazing critters, it's just the whole "Inject digestive juices in yah and dissolve you from the inside out then suck your guts out" part about them that freaks me. :)

Yeah, there is that. *laughs* Fortunately, there are very few spiders that are actually a threat to humans in north America. :)

Yup! Unlike.. AUSTRALIA!!! poor bastards.. they have spiders that will CHASE THEM DOWN!!

Yeah, this is true, though a lot of the large ones aren't poisonous. Like the Huntsman. it's huge, but totally not dangerous. Kids sometimes keep them as pets.

Actually, they get bigger. It depends on where you look, and what species. There are some spiders down here that are so large, they can't hide behind one of those big Spartan wall clocks like you see in schools and stuff. I saw a photo of a Dinner Plate spider one time that was like that. You can see it's legs sticking out.

Yeah, that's a lot like the one I was thinking of. :) But the one I was thinking of was either a smaller clock, or a larger spider.

Eh, only time I really don't like them is when they're in my personal space. Other than that, they're fine wherever they are.

*nods* Aye, they're very pretty. Though I have to admit it took a little doing for me to get as close as I did to this one. But it seemed docile enough just hanging there waiting for the next unsuspecting fly.

Yeah, they're not aggressive. They're content to just hang out as long as you don't poke them.

I'm honestly surprised that he didn't flip out when the flash went off. Not unhappy about it at all though. :)
