
I commissioned this picture from DogzRBarkin several years ago to comemorate the Columbia disaster. Since both Stargazer and Dipper liked the space program (Stargazer because of his interest in astronomy, Dipper because of his love of airplanes) this hit them both pretty hard.

Yeah. I remember that too. I friend of mine happened to video tape the Columbia as it passed over California, just prior to its disintegration.
Up until then, the only spacecraft break-up had been in the movies (i.e. Star Trek 3).
The one that really left me in shock was the Challenger explosion; I was dazed for 2 days.

that's another one of those times where I have a perfect photo-snap picture in my head, my voice cracking calling to my wife, unbelieveing the words coming out of my mouth.
