Kitty is dressed in Edo era Japanese style. She's hurrying home through the early morning snow from her lover's house. She has a scarf draped over her head to obscure her face, and she quickly finishes rearranging her kimono as she slips off home. Sometimes it's nice to just paint something pretty that stands on its own, but sometimes I can't resist injecting some narrative into a painting. I'm a big freak for snowflakes - the pattern on her kimono is stylized snowflakes on a checked background. At the time geometrics and contrasting collars were in style. Acrylic on paper aceo size.
