While I was at the Renn Fest with my dad and brother, my dad got to talking with the wood carver at the Militia Tent, and we heard that one of the street performers wanted a calico cat plush. My dad was asking me what it would take to make a life-sized cat plush, and I told him it would be expensive, but when I got home I realized that I already had all the necessary colors in left overs from old projects. On a whim my dad told me to make one, so here she is. She just got back from her season as the Hermit's cat, so she's officially a Renn Fest veteran.
The orange fur is longer than the black and white (a hazard of using scraps), which looks a little weird, but my dad didn't want me to trim it so it has been left as-is. This plush was fairly ridiculous- all in all there are 48 pieces! It could be done in 45, but I had to cut up some of the larger pieces because I did not have any white scraps big enough to do the two biggest pieces whole. (One had to be cut into two pieces and the other into three.)
I have made a few modifications to the pattern and it is available for purchase (as a digital download) in my Etsy shop.

The plushie is also for sale! He's pretty expensive, though- I'm willing to consider offers, but no less than $200.

It is SO HARD to make plush eyes look... Not crazy? I think it's because they don't have any eyelids so they're always wide open. You can get eyelids (or make eyelids) for them, but then they just look like they're sleepy! This particular brand of doll eyes is really beautiful, though- expensive, but worth it. Up close they look practically real!
