To be different is to instill a sense of fear in the minds of many who do not understand its uniqueness.
To be an outsider is simply to be outcasted by those who fear your uniqueness.
The masses may fear you, but there are still some who appreciate you that much more.
Nice work as always.

This is probably a worthless comment, but...
That was my prom.
I went alone since my friends/sister bailed on me (one had three ligament tears in her knee and she'd been walking/doing dance routines on it for three years, and she didn't want to get dressed up to sit around. Her twin pulled out. My twin pulled out). It was bittersweet... I had the freedom of not being tied down to anyone, but hardly anyone would let me in. (Not that this wasn't the usual...)
What helped me push loneliness to the back of my mind was the freedom of independence... (and the fact that I knew I looked my best. Weird? Yes.)
Your work, as observed from the many, many comments posted here has pulled a heartstring in quite a few people. I've seen this piece before, and I wasn't sure if I should share my thoughts since so many others have... This is beautiful work.
And plus, the symbolism through color helps interpretation. The reds in the guests="bad" or "bitter" and the one blue, your character in the foreground, is the odd one out, and most likely the most pure/clean-spirited of all those in the picture. Along with the fact that orange and blue are contrasting colors :) Makes her stand out a little more.
Wonderful work~
