Funny, but Eevee evolves into a Sylveon due to love and friendship at night into Umbreon.

Actually, Eevee only evolves into Sylveon when it learns a fairy-type move (at LV9 Eevee learns Baby-Doll Eyes) and continues to have a strong friendship with you.

If it has no fairy-type moves and the friendship finally hits a certain strong bond at night it evolves into Umbreon. If you hit the strong friendship bond during day without fairy-type moves, Eevee evolves into Espeon.
