It's probably more that the Simpsons episode is funny, and has more quotable lines than the film, especially since "All work and no play" and "Here's Johnny!" got quoted within a few minutes of it being posted =P
Glad you like the pic though, really happy with how it turned out ^^

It was interesting to note that Stephen King did not like the screenplay version at all. I thought it was brilliant. I do understand his reasons for the ways it deviated from the story he wanted to be told and was told in his book, but still, it was a great movie on its own.
Years and years later he tried to revive it by doing a reboot true to the book in a Made for TV mini Series. It did not do so hot.
He got the green light for it because his Mini Series version of "The Stand" on ABC was a hit (and damn fine close take on the book as they could fit in a Mini Series), so ABC gave him a blank check, and he did the "Langoliers" next as a Mini. It was good and did ok, so they gave him another blank check and told him he could do whatever he wanted, and here, he decided to redo "The Shining". After its results, ABC did not ask again.
If someone could screenplay his series "The Dark Tower" correctly, it would be an awesome movie IMHO.

I've always found it pretty interesting that several of Kubrick's book adaptations are disliked or even hated by the original authors, despite being well received elsewhere. Anthony Burgess absolutely HATED the adaptation of Clockwork Orange, even going so far as to work a parody of it into the stageplay adaptation he wrote himself.
I keep meaning to go back and watch the ABC rework of The Shining. The original movie is so well done and has such a place in our cultural mythos, with certain quotes and images, that I just don't think any remake would have a chance, but I don't actually remember it being _bad_ just...obviously not the original movie.
