My wife snapped this photo of a squirrel that has been taking up residence in our squirrel box. How cute!

I don't know too many people who actually enjoy the company of squirrels enough to put a nice, cozy place for them. I must say it is quite refreshing to see such a gesture.
As one who lived in a woodsy area for years, I've got to say I always found it fun to watch the squirrels as they tried to get some free eats from our bird feeders.

I was just really happy to see one using the house! While we don't feed the wildlife there as much as we used to, I still try to leave something around for them from time to time. All the seed around the house has brought mice, which over the summer, brings snakes. We also started getting raccoons, opossums, and other critters when we put out food such as apples.
Wow! Now that is a most interesting cause and effect tale.
Despite living the woods, we seldom attracted much to our house with seed aside from birds and squirrels. Then again, we naturally had deer and chipmunks scurrying about. My dad used to set cage traps for the chipmunks and, once caught, he'd relocate them to an area that was more apt for them.
