I am curious as to how to know when the variable resisters are set properly without a scope. [I am thinking they are variable resisters as they could be variable capacitors or gates]

These are tuning coils. or inductors that are varable. There are steps in the instructions that re a guide and steps you take to "tweak" further to give best performance.

I am doing this without special tools like a scope or an audio generator or rf generator witch is not needed. I set the AM side by being patient and it works really good.

The night I finished it I sat in my truck and tuned it against the radio in the truck (digital display for frequency) and just tweaked it for max sensitivity.


I was able to hear stations as far away as Florida New York,, Etc.
