Well, only part of the body got yanked out, compromising the structural integrity, but not destroying it completely. Plenty of planes have flown with partially damaged bodies. Heck, I've seen one land with an entire wing missing once. This one managed to hold itself together for a minute or two before the stress overwhelmed the remaining support structure. A fair compromise...plus you know...more dramatic this way.
*facepalm* oh frak...I see where I screwed up. I made some alterations to the attack scene during editing, but forgot to change everything to match it just right. This is why I was lousy at computer programing and held my class' record for most crashes. Anyway...I think I uploaded a fixed version of that now. A minor alteration, more details about the plane falling apart and crashing...and hopefully I didn't forget anything.
