I changed the format (and it's gonna stick) to mimic that of the American standard comic book format and the extra space let me play with the layout somewhat and I ended up really enjoying this page. Hell I'm just having an awesome time making this comic anyway.

Sorry! There was a butt so I had to mark it! But it's pretty tame: http://d.facdn.net/art/boneitis/138.....tters_fada.jpg
And this is where one sees your boyfriend getting dressed in a skin tight battle suit. Playing bets on it coming out of his suitcase, Iron Man 2 style.
It's also probably where Leon understands the importance of turning down Meier offer and getting a normal college education if he ever wants to rescue his boyfriend from the grips of this madman. Which is why I'm also expecting a dimensional shift to happen.

I'm a big fan of how they do the layouts in "100 Bullets" (Ex: https://dcomixologyssl.sslcs.cdngc......0d7ef0fb5b9a8b ) so I do my best to emulate/learn from it (though I'm nowhere near Eduardo Risso levels, give me a few more issues at least!). Lots of bleeds and black <3
This makes me wonder how much you can trade off between style and substance? I don't think the artwork is bad, nor do I think the story is bad, although I could not tell you which I prefer, to be honest.
If I were being cynical, I could say, as an example, that Sin City looks rather plain for being mostly black and white (but not BECAUSE it's black and white- I read some manga and don't dislike them because of it), although some would say it's pretty stylish. Can one find interest in the story and characters, though? I wonder...
Maybe this could be discussed in detail another place another time, but I wonder where you draw the line- the fulcrum on that seesaw of trading off? Art is, of course, subjective.
I'll apologise for bringing it up here, as I don't have any issues with your art or characters, but seeing False Start did get me thinking about it. For instance, I like Pearls Before Swine, Calvin and Hobbes, and Garfield as comic strips. I don't think any of those are the best things ever drawn, but I like the characters in those, and I often find them funny, which they're supposed to be.
This makes me think that you can sacrifice one for the other, but I don't know at which point too much as been sacrificed that people will just not bother to read your comic. I would not want to find that out the hard way, really.

I think, more so than anything, it's having a style that matches/works with the story you're telling. In addition maintain that storytelling/writing is key but in the medium of comics it IS a graphic medium so approachable and polished artwork is ABSOLUTELY necessary. I've read many a gorgeous comic though with absolutely abysmal writing, those are the biggest letdowns!
I would definitely buy a comic that is nothing but Simon's first day at work. The idea is hilarious to me. I can just see him walking around like, "I bet those fish out there aren't even real. This is bullshit."
Also, it may just be because "I make a really awful furry. I don't even like comics about locker room rape" is one of my favorite quotes, but just see the sign reading "Staff Locker Rooms" amuses me to no end. It's like "This is where normal furry comics go. That is not where this comic is going."
"I still can't get a read on that guy or this place."
Leon,
Honey,
The read you should get off Meier is DICK. His reading is DICK. His zodiac sign is DICK. His personality type is DICK. How have you not caught on by now?!
