So I went to volunteer at the Arizona Citizen's Defense League table at the gun show out at the Pima County Fairgrounds. An hour's ride each way by 2-wheeler, but I'm proud to say my scooter handled it easily.
I'd spent way too much money at the Copperstate Fly-in airshow on Thursday and Friday (A tale for another Fumetti), so I was NOT gonna spend any money at this show. I'd brought enough cash for parking, and maybe a soda, and that was IT, dammit!
...Until I saw a package deal that a fella who was getting out of black powder shooting was offering: An unused in-the-box .45 Navy colt revolver and a .50 Hawken rifle, plus a backpackload of powder, bullets and accessories.....for what you'd expect to pay for the pistol alone.
I couldn't afford it. I couldn't pass it up. So I went into credit card debt to buy it. AGH! There's something wrong with me, I swear. And getting the rifle back home via scooter was a bit of an adventure. That is a hefty chunk of steel.
Aaaah, what the hell. When I'm dead, and they kick my rotting carcase into a shallow grave, do I really NEED the marker to read "Managed his money sensibly"?

they'll pry my guns from my cold dead fingers when they bury me.
as a firearm lover i would have probably done the same, i remember the first time shooting a black powder rifle at age six and waking up six feet from where i fired from the recoil. my father was a big gun collector from everything from black powder to western six shooters. i still have a black hawk .45 pistol he gave me before he passed away. sounds strange coming from a girl but I've always been a tomboy at heart. i even still have his don't tread on me rattle snake flag. yes I'm Missouri born and will probably be buried in the foothills of Missouri. should i even get into my medieval and japanese collection and armor?

A Hawkens was made to use a .50 Round Ball, not a Mine-ball which was a hollow-cone military bullet for use in a rifled musket, so you might want to be careful. If what you bought is a SOLID slug, though, then it's not reallty a Mine-ball, and would be safe to use. Also, if that pistol is for .45, than it's an Army Colt, as the Navy Colt fired .36
