Brut's siblings, one buck and one doe. They'll be going to their new home soon...but they are so cute, part-silvered like this!!! I love watching Champagnes mature...they are born pure black and "silver out" in patches as they grow, until they are a uniform silver all over except a little darker on the nose. :)
Little baby Brut is Boss's legacy; he'll be staying here. :)

Thanks! :) I love them...but due to lack of space and a shift in focus, I'm scaling back my Champagnes to just Brut...until I have land of my own, then he can have some pretty new does. ;)
I almost...ALMOST decided to keep his sister, though. She's awful pretty and sweet, too. :P

Oh wow, that is really cool to watch, thank you for sharing! I know you've posted other rabbit pictures before. How many different rabbit breeds do you breed? How long have you been doing it? Are you a registered bunny purebred breeder, since I know you said you have some going to new homes. I know that breeders can make good money from selling them, whether as pets or for show!
I'm scaling back my Champagnes so while I'll keep one, I won't be breeding them until I move. :)
I currently breed Mini Rex (in blue, black, otter, tort, and ruby-eyed white), Dutch (in blue and tort) for show, as well as breeding a pair of little Netherland Dwarfs. I haven't got a litter of Netherlands yet because they're new and still babies themselves though, LOL. The Netherlands will be purely raised/sold as pets. :)
I'm a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, as well as the National Mini Rex Rabbit Breeders Association. :)
So far I'm deep in the red, LOL. The costs of feeding the herd, show expenses (gas money to get there/back, entry fees, food at the show, et cetera), registering each rabbit (I insist on all adult stock being registered! :D) coupled with small litter size (I tend to have one or two Mini Rex in each litter, LOL) and the fact that I rarely sell anything.....................yeah I'm DEEPLY in the red. ;) The sale of these two (if they sell for my asking price) will cover the feed bill for a couple months...but that's it. :P Every time I make a big sale I do a little happy dance because it puts me back out of the red for a while...but then a show or something lands me smack-dab back in it, LOL!!!!!!
I'm asking $30 each for those two Champagnes, or $50 for the pair...to show my four juniors next month, it'll be $3 each for each show, two shows on one day, so $24 for entry fees. I'll be bringing two others to get registered at the show (pending inspection from a Registrar) for $6 per rabbit, so there's another $12...plus I'm estimating $30 in gas to get there and back since it's a few hours away. :) Not including lunch at the show (I usually get a BBQ sandwich and a soda at the 4H booth, all proceeds to benefit the 4H kids, to the tune of $3.50), my costs just to attend that show are $66. :P Those two Champagnes won't even cover that single show, LOL!!!! And none of my does are pregnant right now...I am going to time my next round of breeding for the spring show season, to have juniors for the first show...so it could be months before I have another rabbit to sell. :P
Rabbits are a sucking black hole, financially. Thank gods they're cute and fun as hell, LOL!!!!!!!

Their sire and dam were indeed the standard silver color, though fully mature. :) They are purebreds, all Champagnes silver like that. :D The breed is at least 200 years old, from the Champagne province in France.
Here's a picture of their sire, the day he won Best of Breed at his first show. :) I loved that buddy (nicknamed Boss) but had to put him down not long ago...I'm keeping one of his sons, Brut, to take his place as my show-worthy Champagne. :D
