But of course! Any pointers for one who'd like to play around with some construction paper like so? Got the glue, paper and ideas - but don't know where to start. :[

Uhhh. Well, it's probably something that you just need to fiddle with to find your own way of doing it.
I always start with the head. Just the big base piece. Then you gotta think about how to layer it properly. I do alot of tracing an entire piece and drawing the bit that is going to be added on to make sure I get it right. (ex; To get an ear marking right, I'll trace the ear on a piece of that markings colour, then draw the marking and cut it out.) It's a really fiddly process, and sometimes you have to do the same piece a few times to get it right.
But it's always sooo satisfying when you finish something. : >
