WARNING! Big, useless rant ahead, don't take it all that serious though ;3 :
Since we're in the furry fandom certain ferral traits and behaviors might be overlooked or unknown to some. I'm fairly sure though that it's common knowledge that felines as such have a rather blatant aura of elegance around them and thus members of that particular genus tend to be rather proud of the fact.
Now, do call me racist, because I am rather opposed to canids (oh what a coincidence) and call me hypocritical too, but somehow I do feel myself insulted when my personal feline grace is insulted by being mistaken for a lapine.
I'll admit that the long ears "can" (and I put a very big stress ont he word can) be misleading, but do correct me if I'm wrong by saying that I can't remember the last bunny with a tail as long as its own body. Neither do I remember the last member of the lapine race with accentedly pointed ears or the beautiful set of predator teeth that are another part of the pride factor of felines.
Now, not to insult lapines. I'm sure they have their very own grace and apeal for themselves and others, but I hope I hereby managed to point out that si'itians are not, have not and will not have any genetical reference to lapines, completely letting out the fact that, even if one of the many stray bunny ladies, that run around offering their poochie more openly than a buffet table presents its goods, managed to get layed by me or any other male representative of the si'itian race, the genetical materilal would hardly be compatible >_>
Uuuuuuuhhh...yeah. And please remind me that I have to stop watching Yahtzee Croshaws game reviews.
That is all!

Hello, iPoke dear.
Yess indeed, I would most assuredly consider your si'itians to be a separate, specific species, since their origin is not Terran to begin with, but instead an alien race of their own. While they bear a superficial resemblance to Terran anthropomorphic felines, they are distinctive in several ways, not least of which is their trademark ears. I am certain as well that they are different from the standpoint of culture. ^_^
With much love,
Mika Kyubi

I'm going to have to go through the cultural data you posted again, as one of the pages was missing in the mix. Not too big a deal, though, and solvable. I have a tremendous love of xenocultural study, and adore a good foray also into xenobiology. One of these days, though, I'm going to have to see if I can make chat-level contact with you and discuss tech matters, a field I tend to utterly adore. I'd rather not clutter up the note system here, nor any journals with such chatter.
With much love,
Mika

Uh... wat? :/
Since you aren't really a feline IRL you have no "durrhurr amazing personal feline grace" that can be insulted. Leave the "feline pride" stuff to your character, please D:
You can pretend all you like on the intarwebs for fun but lol, seriously... taking furry characters so seriously that you get offended when somebody mistakes your character for a rabbit is silly. It's understandable if you find it annoying (it has happened that persons have mistaken my character for a fox a couple of times and I find that somewhat annoying ;>) but lol... seriously, offended? and may I ask why you are so opposed to canids? I have both dogs and cats as pets and love 'em all the same :D

... *sigh*
Reading through your comment I find you have done precicely the thing which I asked you not to do. I'll point towards this little disclaimer here "WARNING! Big, useless rant ahead, don't take it all that serious though ;3" pressing the part where it says you're not supposed to take it seriously.
I see why you got here though, since my sense of humor is somewhat unique in these fields. As you said, pretend all we want on the intarwebs and so I do for the characters sake, but I don't feel PERSONALLY offended as such that I'm hurt IRL or something :b it's just happened often enough that I figured it's time to clear that up once and for all X3 the serious tone in it is part of the aforementioned unique humor.
As for why I don't like canids: mainly because they're incredibly loud and smelly sociomanics without one last bit of self-esteem left in them (probably owing to the hirarchic structure of their genetic predecessors) :b

Bah, then I guess i'm the one that should hang my head in shame xD
I guess I can blame my reaction on the fact that I used to actually know a guy with a feline character a couple of years ago that did had the "take characters way too seriously" syndrome. So I guess I should spank myself for not really paying attention to the "dont take it that seriously" part :| SHAME ON ME! especially when I get annoyed when people don't read my own descriptions x)
Sorry for that comment :C *hits self some extra*
but pssh! that's not canids you're describing, it's dogs ;> wild canines have a helluva different mentality than dogs.

XD no worries, it's happened before...and in far greater extent, let's forget it and pretend it never happened ;b
And yeah, about canids and dogs. Yeah, I guess you could narrow it down to dogs on that end. Then again, they're the only canids you really come in contact with to judge in our society...or at least in europe.

After I got your response I wen't into massive facepalming at what I commented D: so ja, let's ;B
Dogs mentality are heavily "modified" by humans through breeding. Dogs are stuck in the "puppy phase" of canine mentality through all of their lives. ;3 Wolves, which is almost literally the same specie as the dogs are nearly impossible to train and aren't that interested at all in pleasing their human owner when kept as pets. So no, dogs aint' really a good example of the canine race... but they are, as you said, the only kind of canine humans really come in good contact with.
Cats on the other hand... they still sure got their old feral little personalities left ;>

Let's see here... Sharp teeth? Check. Claws? Check. Long, expressive tale? Check. Pointed, well maintained ears? Check. Apple of many a woman's eye? (AKA Catting around.) Check. You sir are now officially certified as a feline.
I don't see how you could be mislabeled, you even have a picture, "God me a carnivore for problems like you."
However, this mis-identification could prove useful. Some unsuspecting grass muncher could be lulled into inattention and then, with one pounce, you would take another weak specimen from the herd and get lunch at the same time. Just some food for thought.

XD OMG, please, let's go back to that "certified artist" drama BS XDDD
Well, it's happened before and I guess with the many, many, MANY ways that lapines are drawn here on FA (owing to the individuality of peoples styles) I guess the asumption might be made that this is simply how I interpret them >_>
True enough. Would be a damn large bunny though X3

Oh no! I did not even think about all the "certification" drama. It was so pointless it slipped my mind. I should have said, "registered" like with a pure breed to avoid even hinting at that.
Thanks for all the comments that you return to all of us. It is always nice to watch an artist with talent, but to find an artist that is friendly, polite, and has a wicked sense of humor is very special.

XD I know you didn't, it just reminded me of that ;3
I'm glad I can make you peeps happy too =^-^= I hate the arogance of mosts artists not to answer to pictures. I mean, I'll understand that, with 150 comments to one picture in a day or so, you're hard pressed to answer, but you could at least try'n get up the time to answer some of them >_> (this excludes non-english speaking artists with language issues, such as Miles DF.)

Most people think my character is a cat even though he has the head of a jackal. I don't really mind because I can't expect other people to be as interested in my original characters as I am. It would be outright creepy if they were that obsessed... They see what they expect to see and that's fine with me. =)
That's a nice set of teeth, btw. To be honest, I've never mistaken your creations for rabbits, but I didn't think they were feline either.

Well, all I really ask for is that, when in doubt, check the species definition, that's what it's there for anyway ;b
But yeah, in general you're right I guess. You'd probably think they were feline though if you saw their original form...might get to drawing that some day XD

I feel your pain. u.u Drew the badge on the bottom for myself because I am so sick of "here kitty kitty" at conventions when I'm in costume. http://www.rainbowsaber.com/art/fcbadges.jpg
You are most certainly NOT a rabbit, and if folks know anything about anatomy, they would have picked up on that anyway. Long ears aren't misleading to me... mostly because lapine ears aren't pointy... they're rounded and closer to the top of the head. Honestly, I don't see the fuss XD... but that's just me.
