Ok, so my big announcement is that I want to do an interactive. The first chapter will be posted tonight. For now, have an instruction manuel! Yay! Any questions, please address them to me below in the comments. I hope everyone will be as excited as I am and make this a wonderful experience for all.
Player’s Manuel for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Vore Explorer
Welcome to the exciting world of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Vore Explorer, an online interactive reading experience written by Shade! Yay! Here’s how things will work:
In a regular, timely fashion (hopefully), Shade will present one or two paragraphs describing what is going on. The player character (that’s you guys!) will be involved in exploration, an encounter, or just getting ready to do stuff. At the end will be several options. The readers will vote, and the option that receives the highest amount of favor will be what occurs! Enough with the summary, on to the details!
Setting – Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Vore Explorer (PMDVE) will take place in the world of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. No humans, no technology, no jumping in your sports car and zooming down the road.
Here, Pokemon talk and eat (each other) and sleep and all that good old stuff!
Character – So, who are you? Well, that’s completely up to you guys. Obviously the first panel will be picking your species and gender. I’ll try to pick a nice variety of Pokemon I think will evolve into good predators spanning the first five generations (I’ll add some Gen VI in later most likely…)
The way your character thinks, feels, acts… that’s all up to you guys. Are you out to make friends or are you out to get fat and nom the world?
It would be… really complicated to deal with experience and leveling up and moves and evolving and this and that and this, so I’ll make things simple. Your character can have up to four moves, three feats, and they can evolve. How will you do this? Read on…
So what exactly are we going to be doing? Well, as in the world of PMD, your character will join a guild and undertake exciting, action packed missions! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
You will have options as to what mission to go on. They will be ranked by a set difficulty. For example:
A one star mission will be as easy for a Lv1 Caterpie as it would be for a Lv100 Charizard.
On the other side, a five star mission will be as hard for a Lv1 Caterpie as it would be for a Lv100 Charizard.
Each mission will begin with an objective. How you proceed will determine encounters, how things change, whether you fail or succeed.
When you complete a mission successfully (Sorry, if you’re there to rescue a baby Pokemon and you eat it, you didn’t complete the mission successfully. Use common sense), then you get rewarded with an assortment of items and growth points.
Growth Points – Growth Points are what your character will get as currency. You can spend them on learning a new move (naturally learned moves will be cheaper than egg moves and TM moves), learning a feat (a naturally ability that will passively aid you in exploring), or evolving (this will be the most expensive option 90% of the time). I feel this is an easier option than “You won the fight and got X experience, you gain X HP, X Attack, X Defense, etc etc etc”
Encounters – Every time you encounter a new Pokemon that will be considered an encounter. In the world of PMDVE, everyone is on the menu! Does that mean a fight is winnable? Not always, it just makes sense that your guildmaster would probably have more experience, more knowledge, and cooler toys than you…
You don’t have to fight everyone, you don’t have to befriend everyone… everyone in the world of PMDVE is an individual. Some Pokemon may befriend you because you tried to fight them! You never know.
The encounter will end when both sides are friends or one side is rendered incapable of battling. For the sake of adding a little spice, there are two options.
When your opponent is incapable of battling, you may choose:
Vore – Vore is when you om nom your opponent. They are in your belly, they will be digested, and that’s the end of them! Sorry, you’re not spitting anyone up. When you vore an opponent, you will gain a few more growth points at the end of the mission.
Capture – Capturing is when you tie your opponent up and turn them in to the authorities! Or the slave market! Or whatever… Anyway, in exchange for not gaining bonus growth points, you gain more items at the end of the mission. Some will be accessories, some will be trophies that you can trade for goods and services and shit.
Some opponents may drop loot when you beat them. You never know, I like collecting stuff to remember the people I’ve beat up.
Please keep in mind, when you’re fighting someone, it won’t be “Ok, you used this. They used this. Vote for the next thing.” Nor will it be “Ok, you used this. You rush up to your opponent, smack them fifty million times and they are DOWN FOR THE COUNT! BOOYAH YOU ARE A ONE HIT KO KING, BABY!” I’ll try to make it exciting and realistic (well… look at 95% of the Pokemon… as realistic as it CAN be)
Defeat – Occasionally, you will taste the sting of defeat. In this case, there will be several options.
Save Da Day! One of your friends may show up and pull your bacon out of the fire while consequentially becoming the bacon themselves. Sorry, if they do this, they’re gone. So… not eating everyone is a good thing, you can toss them down your opponent’s throat at a later date! The fight will resume from that point.
Keep Struggling! Keep struggling; maybe you’ll save yourself… maybe.
Give Up and Enjoy the Ride! We’re all vores, come on, maybe you want to get eaten.
This may not be a perfect list of anything and everything that you may encounter. If you have a question, feel free to ask. I’m learning as I do this. A lot of this was inspired by Humbug and Trainkay over on Eka’s. Go see how they do their stuff and maybe you’ll answer some of your questions.
For now, prepare yourself!
