"Late in the afternoon on September 14, 1995, five people are making their way to the Barrows estate in Romsdalen, Norway. The estate, known as the Clock Tower by the locals, is to be the new home for four children who were adopted from the Granite Orphanage. Jennifer Simpson, Laura, Ann, and Lotte, are all excited to live in their new home. Mrs. Mary, a social worker for the orphanage, is escorting them to meet with Mr. Barrows. No one has seen Mr. Barrows come out of the Clock Tower for the better part of nine years; as to why he has chosen to adopt these four is a mystery to everyone. As they enter the estate, the girls marvel at the wonder and beauty of the mansion. Mrs. Mary tell the girls to wait in the main foyer as she heads off to get Mr. Barrows. Time slowly starts to pass, and Ann wonders if she should go look for their supervisor. Being the kind-hearted one of the group, Jennifer volunteers to go look. After just exiting the foyer, she hears a blood-curdling scream come from the room she just left. Nervously, Jennifer enters the now dark foyer; everyone is now gone."
