5th ear pattern variation of the Special Ear Project. This design I like more than the previous edition, so it will probably replace it as the "sad" or embarrased pose. You can see the construction steps for this in my gallery, this pattern is much more complex at the base to enhance the conch of the ear.
I put this in two poses, turned forward and turned down, just to show how this variant would work. I think this worked out pretty well.
What is Secret Ear Project? It is my personal project aimed at creating animatronic ears compact enough to fit within a hat. I am in the process of creating stationary models, animatronic mechanisms, and control software. Check my gallery for more about this and to follow along with my progress.

Thanks! That was my motivation for creating SEP, After seeing a commercial unit like this http://www.necomimi.com/ I decided that I needed to do something. It is entirely doable to make a set of GOOD animatronic ears, it just takes a little know how and a bit of money, and I aim to prove that.
They are a neat idea, don't get me wrong. They produced a novel concept, with decent complexity, at an affordable cost. However those (from what I have seen, I have never actually worn any) only use a single actuator and swivel at a 45 degree angle. Animal ears (I am currently studying equine) have three groups of muscles per ear, requiring six different actuators for realistic, independent movement. Hence why I use six in the animation rack for SEP ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11867742/ ). It just costs a lot more, is exponentially more complex, and is not really marketable to the masses at a reasonable price.
