It's funny what gets you thinking.
I rewatched Wreck-It-Ralph the other night, and that ending song, "When Can I see you Again?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM1YMeDsc-M
that always reminds me of Jazz and Guy, who for my newcomers, were a couple of main characters I really liked to draw, and do stuff about relationships. There's also her mother Cammie, a black widow, and her deceased (via being eaten) husband Earl Grey.
Now, I felt like I wanted to hang up the bugs a while back, Guy just wasn't jiving, Jazz wasn't cute anymore, Cammie was...cammie was perfect actually, I don't know why I didn't do more of her.
But I was listening to that song again, and I just felt like drawing them up again, but really trying to redesign and re-color them to be more distinct, which was my problem with them in the first place. So here are the major changes,
Jazz: Jazz is now a black widow, like her mother. But she's still round and cute, but with a pinker shade to her hair and hourglass (oh yeah and hair exists now.) Personality-wise, she's a little more fun, outgoing, kind of a mixture of old Jazz and the kind of characters I thought of replacing her with. Still sweet but with a dab of punk in her.
Guy: Guy is now a Tersa Sphinx moth
http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/.....saJaySmith.jpg
Which is far more specific than just "grey" which he was before. His attitude is also a little more uplifted, he's less of a jerk and more a goof. But a lovable goof.
Cammie: Cammie's more or less unchanged, she's still got the body, but now she's really in MILF status, complete with the sweater and the mom-jeans. I really want her to come across more as mother who USED to be a real party girl, but kinda settled down over time. Oh and now she has a curl behind her head, just to make her seem a little less bald.
Earl Grey: PROBABLY THE BIGGEST THING HERE, IS THAT I'M UN-KILLING HIM. I've decided to have him be alive, and actually still together with Cammie. I've really gotten tired of the old plotline of Jazz having daddy issues, Cammie having insecurities about not being able to control natural urges to feed on a male after mating, FUCK IT. I like him, and I want more of him. I'm kinda looking at him like he could be a music theory professor in his middleage, hence the sax case over his shoulder and the bag of music sheets.
So the dynamic is that they have Jazz as their daughter, and Guy is her boyfriend who happens to live with them, as just a way of trying to live on his own. Guy and Jazz are kinda based on Mizukiki and myself circa a year ago when we first moved in together.

And I've officially stayed up waaaaaay past bedtime to do this, but y'know? I've missed these characters, but I could never think of a way to make them interesting to me again. And I think I managed to really make all 4 of them much more distinguishable, and more visually interesting. I'm really proud of all of them, just because Jazz seems perkier, Guy is cooler to look at, Cammie's a MILF and Earl Grey isn't dead anymore.

wow the redesign is super fun man. im glad you got to fall back in love with your characters again X3 these ones are my personal favorite. jazz's little pink tuft of hair is super cute and cammies milf jeans are great. and damn earl grey looks all kinds of cool in an older classy kinda way. and yeah just so you know that song makes me feel all the warm fuzzies too
I must say, I'm glad that you have managed to renew your interest in these characters, because I would have missed them.
May I ask how Earl Grey's relationship with the others is now? Since he was a posthumous character before, I only ever saw how his absence effected everyone.
Are he and Jazz close?
Does he approve of Guy? (I mean, Cammie seems like the kind of mom who would be amused by the idea of a live-in boyfriend for her daughter, but many fathers might feel kind of weird about knowing the guy who's screwing their daughter is living under the same roof)
Does Cammie still playfully flirt with Guy?

Earl Grey does make things significantly different. For Cammie, it means she's less man-hungry and more just a cool-mom type. But one who's done some SHIT in the past. For Jazz, she's close with him but also more outgoing and energetic. She doesn't have the same daddy-complex that she used to, and is more comfortable around guys seeing as he was still in her life. For Guy, he's cautious but almost bros with him. It's the kinda thing where Earl Grey is a really nice guy, but Guy knows how protective they can be.
Though that leads to Earl Grey doing the typical dad-fucking-with-his-daughter's-boyfriend mindgames. Just to screw with him.
And Earl Grey himself is just an overall easygoing person. He teaches music theory at a community college, and just prefers to keep things less complicated. ...to a point where he'll do it to avoid confrontation if he can.
Cammie still playfully flirts, but kind of to the same degree Earl Grey likes to fuck with his head. Cammie will make jokes or comments that sort of leave you thinking "wait, that sounded a little oddly specific..." They trust him, he's generally harmless, and he reminds them of THEM when they were in love initially.
they still like to mess with him though, just because that's what other people did to them at the time, and now THEY get to fuck with someone else's head.
