I felt the need to post with a push from
bluenire
Yes I own a horse
Yes Daddy bought her for me.
Yes I took riding lessons as a kid in a indoor heated arena.
Yes she's not professionally broke.
Yes she has shitty feet and is always getting cracks and tiptoes across rocks.
No, it's more like she owns me!
No I did not sell her once Dad no longer supported me. (Got old and moved out haha)
No I did not pay for lessons, we couldn't afford it. So I cared for ALL the lesson horses in exchange to ride.
No she's not an 'unfriendly horse who wouldn't make a good kid horse'
No I will not shoe her so that I can 'ride' her more. (Yes there is tons of debate on shoeing is safe and good for your horse. But I'm against it and respect those who are not, so respect my decision.)
I have been with my unfriendly mare for 7 years. From an unbroke 3 year old to a quiet sweet kids horse at 9 (holy f bomb next year she's 10!!!)
Trained her myself, haha not a pro by any means. I was just to stubborn to give up everytime she reared, bucked, or even tried to bite my leg while I was on her.
I moved 4 hours from home and the only way that would happen was to have a home for her there first. Once that was a go we both moved together.
Now I'm preggers and no one will let me ride, but that's ok. There is so much more we can do together other then making her work. Bahaha but she does give lesssons to the friends kids, but she enjoys when they ride. They don't make her swim, jump, chase antalope and ride around town for no apparent reason.
Bottom line, Sweety will die 'my' horse. She will never bounce owner to owner only to end up pet food in the end. Even though you cost me an arm and a leg. And your feet suck balls and I spend tons on ferrier work XD haha wouldn't have it any other way my Sweet girl!!

what a cutie :D I had a horse (until my parents got bored and wanted to move -_- even if I did all the work on him), anyways, he was the same colour, only with jet black hair. He was also not shoed, and although he needed a little care from the ferrier, he mostly trimmed his hooves by running around on the mountain we had xD (so grassy areas, gravel, a lake and flat rocks was all his and another horse's ). I think mine was the worlds's sweetest, but then I again I learned to ride on a "wild" horse, that would buck and throw me off 20 times a hour xD
My mare turns 10 this year I've had her since she was 2 1/2 ( turned three later that year) I've had my mare the same amount as you , your mare is beautiful
I do love the statement you made about dieting your horse
Technically I own 3 horses with bugsy being mine and my parents having two , as they are getting older there relying on me to ride a bit more
I've trained too and what not but I agree my horses will die my horses , I don't plan on changing that
<3 good luck with the pregnancy :)
