The first image was when I just got him..I think its a him o.o (more info here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11678458/ ) and the others from tonight as you can see.
Still haven't gotten a slate bottom for the tank (need to barrow a tile cutting saw) but I'm going to go ahead and upgrade tank size since he's just growing like wild.
Need to make a better cooling system before I can put him in one of are 40 breeder tanks. :(
But yeah look how he's changed! So happy the mistreatment dosnt seem to have a lasting affect.
OH YEAH behold my Axol Squishable XD I got it when I was voting for
Ryunwoofie's Koi design. There were three left so I had to nab one.

Its dangerous for axol's to be on gravels since they have a bad habit of eating it and blocking themselves up, and sand can block up young axols to till he's abit bigger I'm not going to risk sand. Thats why I'm planing on a slate bottom, more traction then glass and nothing that could hurt'm. ^^
Yeah i think its Cailfornia and New Jersey that they are illegal in. I'm honstly surprised they arnt in Florida here since so many exotics end up in the everglades but they need cold water to survive so i guess they could never get a foothold like the boas and such have done.
Ah I guess it was in my journal i talked about him not the image! I got him from my old boss, she has a fishtank she keeps at her outdoor store so my dad helps her when she has issues with it. When we were there to check her heaters she said she her daughter had salamanders that kept dieing and the last one wasn't looking good and that we could have it if we wanted. We have a ton of tanks so we went to look and he was in a gravel bottom tank with little fish which it seems ate his gills off. ;;
I haven't the foggiest where she got it but my guess is a local petshop or a reptile show. I planed to get one one day but since its florida keeping a tank under 69 degrees isn't easy. I'm making due with three large fans and using evaporation to cool but obviously I'll need a better method if i want to use a large tank.
At a guess thou a reptile show would be the best bet or at least find a seller of newt/salmanders and Im sure they could find or point you to someone who can get them.

Poor little guy, I'm glad you rescued him and are giving him a nice home! I will have to keep looking around. I've been doing research off and on about axolotls, since I know I'd really like to have an aquarium going again one day... but I haven't seen these guys around in my state! A couple years ago my only option was having one shipped to me, and I know it's usually safe but it makes me anxious. ;3;
I'll have to check with my local Herpetological Society again, maybe now that these guys are gaining popularity there might be rescues or breeders available in MN...
Thanks for the advice and info!
