awwwwww, so cute...i found a snake once at school that big! it was a reddish color like brick....they are so cute...everyone thought it was a worm, save its little black tongue going in and out

So tiny! Hard to believe there are people who'd be terrified of this little guy.

I've freaked people out before by picking up snakes in the wild... Everyone assumes that most snakes in the Southeast are poisonous, even though there are only 3 or 4, and nature made all the dangerous ones pretty easy to spot.

Yeah, the dangerous ones stick out so it's easy to tell what's safe to handle.

I wouldn't take my bets in Australia or SE Asia, though. Especially Australia, where pretty much the rules of thumb are reversed and most snakes ARE poisonous and aren't members of the pit viper family so they look like harmless colubrids.

*Venomous. Yea, in the Atlantic Northeast there's our fair share of copperheads and rattlers but not quite as dangerous to touch snakies as people might think.

I mean, afterall, I'm even venomous and people touch me... but not enough~

well this is a really late reply but its not always that easy. baby garter snakes and copperheads look much the same for the first month or two. also i had a real problem with people that kept killing the water moccasins aka cotton mouths which i knew full well and kept telling them were texas diamond back water snakes. with both of these situations, if you are close enough to tell the difference you are close enough to get bitten.

They're not aggressive and all and they do not have venom.

*nods*thats a good thing and i wish people would understand that snakes aren't the evil creatures that ppl seem to think they are.that there not always poison or even aggressive.

Never even heard of thse! Looks darling - was picking him up difficult? I'd figure he'd be all like, "EE! *ssssss* *slither-hide!*

They're quick, but otherwise easy to catch and handle.

Aww, what a sweetie! My favorite kinda snake (that you might see if you see those guys, I'm not sure) are Southern Ringnecks. They are the sweetest things!

Much unlike my snake... I've got a kingsnake... and she most certainly acts like THE king... er... queen. XD

Oh my god that's absolutely adorable. I think it'd be awesome to have a pet snake of this size in a small container. My roommate apparently really doesn't like snakes, so maybe something like this won't be bad. :)

Love snakes! I've been handling them since I was 3. The snakes I get to work with at the zoo are as small as that fellow and as large as 6 feet. I also get to handle a Burton's legless lizard. Now that is a cool critter!

I've been handling snakes for quite a while. The longest was a rather large grey rat snake I used to keep as a pet which was around 6ish feet.

Never handled any of the larger constrictors. I love ball pythons though.

We have a ball python at the zoo. She is an awesome animal ambassador. She gets to go to schools and nursing homes. The 6 foot fellow is a red-tailed boa. He's my favorite.

This little guy is so cute. It reminds me of my corn snake when he was a hatchling, sssso small and cute.

Hehe, yeah they resemble baby snakes. :) But, they don't get much bigger than this.

oh! when i was in middle school i used to walk home from school once me and my lil bro were coming home and i saw something on the street moving i love snakes so i checked it out and it looked just like this little guy and i always wondered what kind of snake it was lo'behold and fall onto your picture :)
