"This is a Mackle Dragon. Their bioluminescense comes from the nectar of flowers they consume. As a nocturnal species, the luminous segments of their bodies act as a deterrent against predators; Mackle Dragons in defensive position stand on their hind legs, close their eyes and begin a side-to-side head tilt, making the judging of their true size a difficult task for the predator.
During feeding time, Mackles can drink nectar both from their mouth, as well as from their tail, allowing the dragon to be aware of their surroundings at all times."
