The next-to-final design of the Chirr, one of the critters the Darnathi brought with them to earth.
They're basically a cross between a sugar glider and a bug. They emit powerful pheromones that incite calm zen-like feelings to surrounding people and critters and were known to swarm lost jungle travelers when they began to panic. They hate stressful situations and get frightened easily, the pheromone protects them against predators by making them too calm to want to attack and eat them. (this isn't always successful but enough that many Chirrs do make it to adulthood)
They've recently been used by darnathi society as assistant pets to Darnathi who've undergone severe trauma, usually associated with high-level empaths breaking the code and using mind-controll on them. Chirrs zen-inducing pheromone and fuzzy cuddly presence is ideal for therapy of these individuals. Chirrs are not usually chosen as pets except by those who've undergone this therapy and wish to adopt their assigned chirr.
They are also by no-means perfect animals. The biggest staple of thier diet is un-processed metal but they will also attempt to eat processed metal if that's all thats avaialble. In the wild they'd often spit out purified metal ingots once they had stripped ore of its impurities. When used in Darnathi society they can create copies of tools and anything solid enough to take a "mold" of with thier tongues. To aquire the desired shape the Chirr need only lick an object to re-create it. the drawback being it can only do this once and then goes back to producing ingots untill its allowd to lick the object again or something else. While the copies it produces vary in quality and are usually very simple shapes, they're usually given wrenches to copy and use and can be taught to do simple tasks like screw in bolts or hammer something into place.
They need to be house trained like any other pet, and that includes teaching it what metals are okay to eat and what are not. Supplementary diet includes fish but it doesn't attempt to make any tools with the unused parts of the fish (usually because there aren't any)

Oh. My. God. TOO adorable.
I only have one little quibble: The back claws on the front paw are curving out, while the back claws on the hind leg curve inwards. Wouldn't this be the reverse? A backward-curving claw would be better for traction and an inward-facing claw would be better for grasping and manipulating...

I love this creature! I'm a sucker for fantasy animals, especially when they have a developed biology background and abilities. I have some questions about them. Normally pheromones range from odorless to a musky scent, do they have a range of scents or are they all similar since the collective effect is to calm? What would one smell like? I'm guessing they're pretty pleasant if they are used for therapy and are occasionally adopted.
Absolutely adorable!

As this is their "larval" stage they dont have much interest in attracting mates at this point in their life, so their pheromones are largely geared toward survival, they do not emit the "zen" pheromone constantly, most of the time they are odorless. If someone around them is stressed or scared, or if they themselves are stressed or scared they begin to emit the pheromone. Their ability to "smell" fear tends to trigger this reaction in the same way high blood sugar triggers insulin production. Evolutionarily its used to keep them from being eaten by predators and to extend their lives.
The scent itself when emitting the zen pheromone is a soft, pleasant lightly floral smell similar to honeysuckle and fresh strawberries. It's not overpowering (since causing headaches is rather counter productive to their functions) and only gets stronger when the chirr itself is frightened.

That's fascinating! I know I'm probably reaching a bit here, but what would their natural predator be like in their homeland? Would they be a hyper aggressive hunter in a state of constant rage to overpower the pheromones or a calm and collected killer with enough decision making skills to hunt and attack without need for emotion? I would think the latter would be highly dangerous since the separation of logic and emotion requires a lot of brain power in the first place, difficult for humans even.
They don't really have any specialized natural predators, There are predators that migt come along and think it would make a tasty snack, if the Chirr is asleep at the time it usually wouldnt stand much of a chance. It's like how a bird eats bugs, some bugs taste bad so the bird doesnt eat them, the chirr is similar, it also has spikes it can deploy but they don't always stop a predator.
after 50 *earth years* they create a metal cocoon, which they stay in for 5 earth years and emerge looking like this: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/12713637/
If you make one, I do only ask that you give me credit :p (a note they are monocromatic or bi-chromatic, with the shell/paws/hands being one color and the fur color being another. They don't have markings but thier "skin" color can differ from thier "fur" color.
