I haven't yet, no. It's just a rule that my babysitter taught me back when I was ten and the PS2 was still the height of gaming systems. XP The rule existed long before the Stanley Parable.

Oh I know it existed, it's just TSP is pretty much built around that kind of "choice".

Yep. I hate when I assume one way is the wrong way, but it turns out to be the right way. Especially if it then triggers a sequence, that leads to warping me out of a dungeon I haven't yet completely explored.

That's one of the things I love about save points. Dated as they may be becoming, they're a great indicator to tell the player, "Hey, this is the way you need to go, so if there's any other rooms you haven't explored yet, now's the time to backtrack."
