The Leucrota is not a beast to be taken lightly. Its constant grinning face, lack of proper teeth--that is, its skull protrudes past its gums to make a solid jagged bone across its upper and lower jaw, resembling teeth--,and awkward physique give it a clownish air. Such an appearance leads to the misconception that this creature is not dangerous. On the contrary, while the Leucrota is not normally a violent beast--no more, at least, than any other wild animal--, it does have a peculiar taste in food, namely the flesh of humans and canines.
The Leucrota uses a unique hunting technique in which it mimics the sound of a human in distress to lure in loyal canines.
A dog, believing its owner has come across some horrible peril, will flee from its home to find its wailing master. Instead, it charges unknowingly into the awaiting jaws of the area’s resident Leucrota. This sly beast usually will not eat humans as readily as it will eat man’s best friend, but if the opportunity presents itself, it will certainly take advantage.
The most famous Leucrota was known as the Beast of Gevaudan. Although the Beast of Gevaudan was never strictly proven to be a Leucrota, records of its behavior and appearance lead many to believe as such. By the time it was finally eliminated, the Beast of Gevaudan had killed over 123 humans and countless canines.
