Okay, so shit's been a while since my last recording. Why? Because I'm a lazy cat like that. I do this kinda shit as & when I want to. So, here is my cover of MetallicA's The Memory Remains.
OK, okay, I promised the next one was gonna feature my vocals, BUT! My mind wound up turnin' this into a lead guitar solo some how (I don't know how I did that myself, so don't ask) Anyways, I'm kinda pleased with how it turned out.
I didn't bother makin' a video to go along with this one for four reasons:
1. YouTube sucks, now.
2. "YouTubers" are assholes.
3. My camera's busted.
4. I'm no longer gonna make videos seein' as you guys didn't like it.
I've also decided that in no way in hell am I gonna be a shred-machine on the guitar.
No, I'd rather take Gary Moore's approach (God rest his soul) & get more feelin' outta sustainin' one single note as opposed to mindless shredding.
Playin' sweep arpeggios, tremolo pickin', & rapid hammering is all fun & games 'n' all part of the show, but let's be honest here. I'm more heavily influenced by ZZ Top. That means I'm not gonna make myself "work hard" (As Billy would put it).
Also, my opinion of shredding: Ya, it looks cool. But, about 20 notes played in a rapid-fire succession flyin' past one's ears sounds like one continuous slide from one note to the next & a lot of it is "look at me, look at what I can do." or what some may refer to as "guitar masturbation." I'm not into that. I'd rather let my state-of-mind dictate how I play. Otherwise, it'll just get too damn repetitive if I played everything note-for-note all the time.
Sorry for the wall of text, but a lot of people have been askin' me why I "suck so bad at guitar." So, that explains it & for the record, just because I don't shred, doesn't mean I suck.
So, anyways. Enjoy my latest cover.
