i live in a rural town of 30,000 but becuase of the fort hood base a few miles over the stars are sometimes hard to see, but when you see em' their spectacular.

I love looking up at the stars, where I live at I am far enough from town to actually get a good view of the stars. For the guys in my family on my dad's side, we have relatives that own a ranch that we usually camp at and hunt and fish on that's far away from many lights so at nighttime you can really get a great view of the stars, even the stretch of the Milky Way, and it's also an awesome place to watch lightning during a thunderstorm.

My family and a bunch of other folks used to go on an annual camping trip in the summer to a secluded valley near St Mary's loch in the Scottish borders. There is zero light pollution there so all the stars are crystal clear in the sky, and once we saw about 10 shooting stars in one night! Much awsomeness :)
