Certain 'issues' have been bugging the hell out of me and only an illustration such as this helps calm me down.
To understand why you may need to know a thing of two about me. To those who watch me already this might be nothing new to those who consider themselves 'mainstream' you will most likely choose not to understand.
I hate bigots, racists, double standards (especially when i find them in myself) and when people act like their own "negative stereotype"
to me antho and xeno characters do not represent the inferior beings that 'Mainstream' media always portrays them as. They represent 'people who look different' and as i was raised not to be a bigot or a racist and to treat all people as equals with different skills and abilities. so i do not like "avataring" or "true sighting" or other transformation stories used to side step the "we look different from each other so we cannot accept each other." to me that is the same as taking the classic "Guess who's coming to dinner" and taking the main character who is a Black man and at the end of the movie magically turning him into a white man so that the parents of the woman he loves have their own racist notions satisfied.
My Personal experience with EVERY mainstream art director (note that i am counting face to face and actual conversions, not simply 'no response submissions') or professional Mainstream artist has been met with extreme negativity when they find i draw anthros 'for myself' even when i do not have them in my portfolio. in other words it does not matter how good, fast or eager to please the director i am, it only matters that my personal work is not 'kosher'
for the other end of the spectrum i have mercifully been "left alone" by most of those who choose to act like the "negative stereotype" of the Fandom, but i have deleted posts based off 'attacks' in the past and that 'double standard' still rankles me. most other events i have only seen on the outskirts and so therefore can only consider them as supposition and opinion.
so you are probably wondering how this illustration is a 'pallet cleanser' for all this angst?
simple.... it is the exact opposite to what is making me mad.
there, mindless rant over please continue with you lives

Yeah. She is kinda hard to miss. Probably because she is not even the best look female argonian in the game. Also because of the radiant system the game uses the mini quest that would allow her to become a marriage option might not even show up.
Yup. They should have done it like that. Hopefully if this marriage thing goes into the next numbered game they really will at least give us one option per race per gender. That, and more things the feature can do.

Ah. That.
I have seen those before. Those are some of my favorites too.
That is what I am talking about Japans furry fandom has way more male human/female non human(looking) interspecies couples. So if their furry fandom was to become more mainstream, which is really only a matter of time, then maybe we would eventually see less of these stupid mentalities, and double standards.

And what in the flying hell is up with the women who are human are the only ones to love a non human person who is a male? Beauty and the Beast stuff, now i'm all up for interspecies love but i love human male X non-human female romance the best. we want more human male and female non-human like on Mighty Mouse: All New Adventures (80s Bakshi version)'s Polly and Murray, Regular Show's Denise/Frank (Margaret's parents) and Bojack Horseman's Kyle and Charolette and should get the mainstream to notice.
And the skin shouldn't mater.

Would be nice, but the world ethics committee keeps getting in the way. I fully believe if there were no ethics committee a fully realized furry would already be walking around. But of course there would have to be some type of gain for the corporations. I do remember a doctor years ago trying to produce a viable way for people to buy splice enhancements. Say, if you want a real tail, or slitted pupils.
Okay, just so that I am completely clear. I was talking about the japanese using anthro characters more in their mainstream media, as in anime, video games ect., instead of nekomimis.
Nothing about actual humans giving themselves animal parts, or changing their species.
So knowing that your original comment kinda makes no sense.

I'm really surprised. I thought someone of your talent and viewpoints would be welcomed by 'mainstream' artists. I thought art was about self expression, not what is deemed to be 'hip' or 'in right now'. When I first joined Furraffinity, it was to look at the mature art concerning the Spyro fandom and dragons, one of my favorite game characters and creatures. It was really the only reason I kept coming back. But when I stumbled on your Daily Doe series, it was like curing a disease. I had been thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if more people made more art exemplifying romance between diverse, anthro characters and humans rather than just straight up porn?" Minutes later, I saw that beautiful Doe and her human lover kissing each other. It was like you had read my thoughts. You are now the reason I keep coming back to this site. Its why now I don't really feel ashamed of being a furry anymore. Because your work is about love without shame.
Hello,
Sorry to say but this will never change, people will look at this fandom as extremely weird and there is a reason for that. People concentrate on the negative and this fandom has a lot of negative, so in turn most get put in the same group of people. Those group are either, homosexual, immature or zoophilia (however its spelled) so to the people outside looking in there is no normal. MLP is an example, people find it hilarious and put it a cloud over this community because Its one thing to like a childs show, that is understandable as the show was made to kids to watch with parents but pasting pussies, breast and dicks is another. The thing though that will forever keep the furry thing to be hilariously poked fun of is zoophilia (again). Lets use e621 as an example, post a dog with on its back with a correct breeding hole or vomit stick and it will get in the popular list each and every time. Images with the genitalia of horses or dogs will forever be labeled zoo not matter what is attached to it because frankly most people will find it cringe worthy (like me). Have you heard the Howard stern interview with the furry dude at the convention... yea well that's what people see looking in
Also Avatar was not criticized as furry for the same reason some games don't get labeled as furry, Their in an alien planet so its people wont be exactly the same, the inhabitants looked human, female and male had the same human characteristics that set them apart but the same ....physically able to show emotion, the female fell for the human because of who he was, and there was no evidence that there was a feral dog thing in between the legs and probably most important no fur. Now lets look at the other side of the alien angle.. District 9... accused of having sex with an alien creature... alien creature not at all similar... death.
so in conclusion, there is a thin line between furry and zoo.. to people looking in they don't see that line.... cant really blame them

aaah.. *crack knuckles* a counter point.
here is my opinion on your first bit (based solely off personal experience) those three 'negatives' are even more prevalent in main stream, immature and bestiality in particular ( go to a comic con and see how many REALLY good fantasy painter have sexy women with monsters hanging up....i asked one about them and he said "it is what sells")
e621 i cannot say much cause i only look for anthro females with human males and ignore pretty much everything else.
Howard Stern sounds like a loaded interview where he only wanted the worst possible person to make his audience feel superior
i already talked about avaturd and you should have seen the preliminary designs for the na'vi
aaah district 9 and it's sex joke. of course no-one remembers that a prostitution ring with human women doing the aliens for tech
tin line? nope, only bigots and racist make that line blurred. basically boils down to cognitive abilities verses looks
and yes i can blame them because of the blatant intent behind their arguments. bullying and domination. no different than a book that was published in the south long ago when slavery still legally existed and was a guide to why people of different skin color were not human.
same attack but now they have a trump card. anthros and xenos do not exist so this fandom has no "political correctness" barrier
but here is an oddity. i used to work with a gentleman who was the night security at my hotel. he is extremely religious (bible beater) conservative, retired special ops (he's about 65) and perhaps the most unlikely person to ever like 'furries' he basically pushed me into showing him my work and at fist it seemed a 'flame war' would erupt. but i gave him my same argument i do here and he went "oh yeah.. you're right."

I never been to an art related convention so i have nothing to add.
District 9 is one of my all time loved movies, I remember the prostitution scene and equally cringe worthy.
On my thin line comment, someone looking in and not liking what they see doesn't automatically make them a bad person IMO.
If a 100 people are shown a furry image there will be a large number of reactions and emotions. Anger, sadness, laughter, disgust, happiness etc, regardless of their feelings some people will simply move on and not care, those people Even if they did blur that line I personally would not call them a racist or bigot.

Maybe you could say that you are just very progressive and you try to forseen what could be the futur. Who would have guessed a film about a romance between an alien and a human could have worked? -> Avatar! a commercial success.
Just tell them that imagination is the very basic of your work and that taboos and moral boundaries are just holding you back. And if they bring it to an another level, just say that your are for the freedom of expression in the name of modern Art.
That should work.

I understand that perspective. Here is another one:
furry or human, what makes us different from the animals is our level of thinking.
so,
Alien or human, what make us different
in conclusion:
Our minds are what is really important. If agreee with that no matter that the human was in avatar. He was still a human.

Odd how that works...Capt Kirk boinked EVERY "hot" critter AND robot (Except Spock's one time with the pizza monster *Smirk*...)...and no one blinked...
I'm not fond of TF stuff but eh...
I haven't seen much "good" non-racist stuff except as conflict...not sure if writers are just doin, that to be able to publish...
Brin skirted the issue/s in his "Uplift" stuff. The hint was only sexy alien chick with human male="Malfunction" romance...no uplifted critter/"human" romance...
But a long time ago, after I'd discovered furry but before it became one of my biggest faves I saw this...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hestia_(novel)
The romance is skirted again...the aliens are considered tabboo and the protag never get's past his own double standard...Cherryh does a good job with it tho'...
There's the "Dinner guest" thing that goes on with Bab 5...but they explain that as a way to be able to be physically compatable between the alien and human...
It seems that some stupidities will always be with us...
Eh *Shrug* I know some "people" who still think that comics are for kids and Obama is from Kenya...SIGH...

Cute and sweet n.n <3
There's such a variety of possibility of combination of aesthetics and personality. Ultimately isn't it the personality that matters, not how they look or are shaped?
I roll my eyes at anti-*insert species here* silliness and stereotyping. People are impatient to get to know anyone. But, ultimately, priorities make a person... and priorities rarely involve actually giving a shit about what is ACTUALLY going on and taking time to understand one another.
Sorry if it doesn't quite seem related to your rant-vent. ^^; I think it is but might not be quite your point.
This = <3: "They represent 'people who look different' "

last bit: yes exactly, for me this is about aesthetics of beauty for mainstream its about sexuality and power.
here is another tidbit to think on: when the US still had slavery, who were the people most likely (and documented) to fornicate with the slaves? the people who wanted them free and treated as equals? or the slave owners who told everyone they slaves were just 'dumb animals'?

Ah, your mention of that reminds me of something I heard once, though I don't wanna touch on the subject too much 'cause people go nuts. SUPPOSEDLY... bestiality laws were created back in slave days because of people having sex with them? It's just something I heard. I tried doing research about it once to see if it was true and didn't come up with anything.
Also the 'dumb animals' bit. It seems weird to see something that's clearly of the same species as something less than intelligent. Gah! Madness...

Well in the slavery days when whites considered themselves "superior" as they had supremacy/egotism/bigotry/racism/dominance and considered other folks of different skin color "inferior" and beaten up the slaves, call them names like "dumb animals who aren't human" and treat them like dogs and they even thought folks of different skin color different than theirs were not human and there was a guide published in the south along time ago during slavery times on why people of different skin color even the arabs were not considered human based on the color of their skin and as all dumb animals, this was the pre-Lincoln days when Lincoln realized when he freed the slaves and see folks of different skin color as "people who look different than his own" and to treat everyone as equals.
Firstly, I'm going to praise the hell out of your work here.
I love the detailing first and foremost, there's an exceptional level of it. I see a slight glossy sheen here and there, which accentuates the 'textures' even further and adds to the almost lifelike quality of this piece, and the shine doesn't reduce the level of definition and detail in the slightest. Often times I see artwork that comes off as 'too shiny' to the point where any original detailing is lost, and the opposite goes for that as well. You however have managed to balance it out and use it in turn to create a very 'pop out' like effect.
The scene draws my attention in right off the bat, regardless of the subject matter, and holds my attention more to the quality of your work and encourages me to take my time in appreciating all the subtle nuances like the lighting, the posture, the (again) detailing work done. I can process it all without feeling overwhelmed, and yet at the same time conveys to me the emotions of the two characters in a believable and quite realistic manner. I feel more like I've stumbled upon a pair of young lovers in embrace rather than simply looking at a fine illustration, and easily conveys that there is a story to be told here both in what led up to this event and the possible futures that could play out between them and I find myself in a state of melancholy almost. I want their love to triumph and for a happy ending to their tale.
But, there is a sadness to this, a byproduct of the lifelike quality and the sense of 'reality' you've created here as I know that more often than not, reality doesn't really have happy endings. They are real now, and so they are now subject not to the whims of a story-teller or designs of the illustrator, but instead are now beholden to the cold mercies of the real world where this will be but a moment in time. That moment will pass, the cosmos not even so much as blinking. Doomed as all are to be forgotten, as if to have never even existed, as all they are and were; their hopes, their dreams, their love and their hate, are crushed by the inexorable and unimaginable mechanisms of time and the uncaring nature of our universe.
Great work! ^-^b Get ready for the hard facts and a blown mind.
As to your statement on the matter at hand. I might seem like something of a cynic or a nihilist even, I'm not actually. You have to accept that all things, from the workings of the universe to the biological processes that make up your body and mind, are beholden to one simple and undeniable truth.
The state of existence is conflict and resolution, war and peace, love and hate. You can not have one without the other.
We exist in a state of universal hypocrisy, which itself is a conflict. It's a contradiction, an unstoppable force meeting an unmovable object. The Wheel of Time, The Ouruboros, Chaos. Whatever you want to call it, it's the one thing that will never change, and yet it can not exist without people who wish to change it! You are attempting to understand the purest of paradoxes my friend, to whit their is no answer, either acceptance or ignorance are your only options.
I chose acceptance and honestly I have actually never felt better sense, I use this knowledge not to bring myself down and to tell everyone what they do is pointless, instead I say make what you will of your life. There are plenty others out there who will fight the same fight you champion long after we're gone, and though it might change the fight will go on! Even if YOU choose to continue with your fight, and yes it is a fight in the simplest of terms, so long as it is what YOU want and not what others want you to think you want, then you are fighting and living for yourself and your own ideals, and that is something I can respect.
My point to all this philosophical mumbo-jumbo can be summarized by this: Live for yourself and your ideals first. If you want to stop the hate and bigotry, make that what you want. If you want to have a family, make that what you want.

I threw in the last bit about the family deal there, because I'm certain someone out there was going to say "we can't always do what we want, like family needs come first". Yes that is true, you have to deal with other people, but make the goal what you want. You set the course, you plot the chart, and you navigate towards your goal.
So long as that is what you feel must happen, then yes.
Sorry for the super rant on the nature of existence and all that, my point is that your enemy here, your true enemy, is the human condition and the way the universe works. You can say it's the bigots and the idiots, but what happens when you don't have them? When you don't have something to challenge you in life, some adversity to overcome or something to rally against? Something to motivate you to make a change in the world or, in your daily life for that matter? Where would we be without our idiots to provide the natural obstacles in our lives?
*smacks himself* Oops, sorry fell into again there XD.
I tend to understand the points of view of both sides in an argument and then challenge both sides with what I learned. Some people are just trolling/flaming, and you can pretty much spot them the second you get into a logical debate with them on the matter. It's this weird 'outside lookin' in' point of view I have. x.x;
