Though I'm not certain if essay like works are allowable, here is my journal about furry behavior to be avoided as a submission you can fav and share.
In the event that such a practice is not something I am allowed to do, please permit me the opportunity to remove it on my own. Does anyone know if opinion or essay like works are allowable as long as they are not direct call outs?
I owe a great deal to this fandom, not the least of which is a place to belong for almost half my life. There are some truly amazing people, and I thank every one of you that serves in the military, volunteers to help at hospitals or animal shelters, and those who spent their childhood drawing so that we can have this fandom we enjoy.
However, with some remarkable individuals, there are those that make my blood boil. If any of these sound like you, I suggest you take a good hard look at yourself, and think about it for a while. This is not intended to offend or single out anyone in particular or to start drama. This is just to get some things out that I probably would never say to anyone.

The “Who Asked You” Guy
The “Invincible Over The Net” Guy
The “Leaving Forever” Guy

Please note, that this is not targeted towards any one person and is not intended to start drama or to call anyone out. This is simply my feelings towards these people, a variant of which I have run into at some point over the years.

Very interesting. I agree with a lot of these opinions of yours. I enjoy the fandom because there are a lot of very interesting people here that I love to now call some of my best friends. I know a few of these people that are quite unsatisfactory that I used to follow but fell from their fanbase when I found something that was extremely distasteful. Glad you put something out there to sum up pretty much everything I've always thought of about the fandom. XD
I understand that things happen, unexpected bills and so on, but when it happens every single week without fail to the point where your job isn't enough or if you don't have one, it's still your responsility to take care of your debts. Not the fandom. You only ask us if we are truly your last resort. Job --> Second Job/Commissions ---> Parents ---> Friends
> State/Fed Aid/Short Term Loan ----> Fandom.
While I'm flexible on the order and not all these are options for everyone, my point is we as the fandom are not your first stop nor should you use us every week. I know 90% of furs would say money is a finite resource, and it should only be used when necessary, not because you can't manage money.

Much agreed. 83 though I do know some people that rely on the fandom as a career and usually have consistent customers and ask for a few extra commissions near the end of the month to help finalize their bills. Which I find a different then scrambling and whining and begging people to constantly give them money. I am a colorist myself and only have maybe one or two clients and I use the money that I get for odd small things and to help out with buying food and things. And yeah it kinda sucks cuz I don't really make a lot of money but I love being able to make art for my clients and bring life to the things they love. And in turn I end up loving everything I color no matter what it is. o3o It bothers me greatly when "artists" bitch and whine that their clients aren't giving them enough commissions because now they don't have enough money for their bills or whatever.
Yeah, but extra commissions is earning money. That's their job and they aren't begging.
I just don't get people that beg for money, having little to nothing to give in return, and even if they are an artist, it should tell you something if every month there is a 'emergency commission' journal. Your regular fan base should suffice.

This ... yes so much!
Again also btw TY so much when you helped put out the word to help w/ yerich's mauling off costs. You are a gem I wish to repay you for that somehow sissy.
Or thoes sadly that do not budget and expect us to foot the bills for them. Yes we all have emergencies happen and for artists willing to put up work that is one thing. However, thoes that then whine and rant about "no one wants my art" or "furries suck cus they wont buy my shit and I need money now!" - (yes talking from experience here of a few ive heard or personaly dealt with) That is when I start to go Oi. and my want to care and help meter starts to turn to "dont care or give a Beep" sadly wich makes me feel a tad bad, because its just not my nature. But If I can budget, and if I can save for things I want bar the here n there aw crap ER that happens.... so can anyone else. It is honestly not that difficult even if putting just 10 back a check or even heck a month for thoes on a heafty budget cut.
But then, to see or hear these same go out and buy plushies toys or other "fun" items versus needed items like food, medications, and pets supplies is really when I just wanna give up and rage. But, again I digress and try never to do. You have hit the nail on the head here with this

Oh, you're welcome. I don't know if it helped at all, but I hope it did.
Exactly. I understand emergencies and I have no problem with an artist posting emergency commissions. However.... On the flip side, it is not our fault if we are all broke, nor is it appropriate if they have an emergency more than once every few months. If that is the case, it's clearly a sign of life mismanagement.
Especially if they do that, that seems like a disrespectful backhand to anyone who donated. That's why I won't donate to one person, because they spent months homeless with no job. They get a new job for a month, leave it to switch states, and then buy a pokemon game while their footer still indicates they're homeless and accepting donations. They got a job pretty fast after moving states, but then a month later they post a Christmas list including items such as a laptop, a PS3, and a 3DS. I'd say those things you don't need until you can prove you're stable with six months to a year of employment. Maybe next year. Or buy it yourself.

Yeah, some people urgh. And Every little bit helped dear! The fact that you were even willing to help me out by pimping it means the world to me as you know. And ive just been so busy RL I have not had proper time lately to sit and say Thanks. We still need to dern it arrange time at TFF together last year you were sick and I ended up with a bad panic sieze and in bed for almost full saturday blah!
Yeah with all the kickstarters n popfur stuff that was going on during it I did not get much bites to be honest. But the important part is I got some relife and SOME is always better than NONE and for that im so greatfull to my true packmates n friends ty. Every dollar helped me put back into the 600.00 damage that the other family did not offor and help us move forward. And the rest I worked on art, and with my parents to even out/repay.
I'm so with you on all of these, especially those lovely people who nitpick on other people's commissions and who write like they're missing half their fingers. I'm willing to make allowances for people who don't speak English as their native language, of course, and I can forgive the odd typo either way. But for native speakers, there's no excuse for not making your posts at least legible.
I tend to be rather wary of people who are always in a financial crisis, too. I hate that, because I hate feeling cynical and I know that people do get in serious trouble sometimes. But I've been burned a couple of times that way.

I remember one pic I got where people pestered the artist because the gun had no clip/magazine. I hadn't included one in the ref and honestly hadn't really thought about it. Enough people brought it up that he changed it to include the clip. The base point, of course, is that the artist and myself DID NOT CARE. Mentioning the missing clip isn't helpful or constructive. It's done, and if I haven't complained, then neither should you, in theory. Esp when it makes a minimal difference.
I as well, I give bilingual folks a lot of credit, a typo here and there, sometimes I comment on my phone, and under 18, sure. I don't think anyone old enough to vote should be neglecting punctuation and the shift key.

Regarding the last part, I only give money if they are someone I know and they have never burned me before. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I know one person that fit that category and even while in their darkest hour the art never stopped flowing. It may have been free, it may have been gifts, but if you were in the same situation as this person, you'd beg for food instead.
I must say that this is interesting. I personally /am/ in a financial crisis, but who isn't nowadays. I don't look for handouts, I simply pay for what I can when I can. This usually means bills only and no fun stuff. Every so often, I get a little extra and can splurge. But mostly, when it comes to stuff on FA and DA.......I simply watch art and go for free stuff when it pops up.
Another reason I avoid pay stuff is that most every time I've paid for something on the web like art, I wind up waiting for months. And considering I've only done it once.......I'm not in a mood to fork out money again till I know the product is at least drawn. Too many 'take the money and run' types out there.

I'm not. I could be in better shape, admittedly, and I don't have a whole lot to spare, and lastly one big thing could probably screw me up big time, but for general stuff, I am okay.
The way you describe it is the responsible way to handle things. I could point you to at least two people that were known for frequently begging for money any time the day ended in y, and the money was not always put to a logical use given their situations.

If someone offers money, depending on who and the reason, I'll accept it. But the online stuff, no. Plus, currently.....where I am, I don't need a lot of money to survive. What I have does what it needs to. Sure, I can't by the newest GTA game or get good furry art or go to conventions, but do I need that stuff? No. I will eventually be able to splurge again, but for now.....no dice.
It is annoying how many there are in this community that seemingly can not manage their own budget. I can not understand people that buy commissions even when they are low on money.
Another one that is annoying is the people that spread rumors about popufurs, sort of the opposite of the white knight I guess.

Which really should indicate that it's not the boyfriends that are the problem. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, you don't add them to your profile until you're fairly sure you're together. I can't stand the people that get couple art and a new boyfriend's icon four times a year.
This is a great list! but this will probably get me on the list as the 'Who asked you?' guy but you've left out the RP addicts, the attention whores and the character obsessors... I have unfortunately had experiences with everyone on your list and more so I figured I'd offer up some suggestions to add to it.
I couldn't think of a better word or term at the time because I was part way to a migraine but I was more referring to fanbois and fangirls... i.e. the ones that try to suck up your ass because they've become infatuated with one of your characters.
In my experience there are two different kinds of them, the first just wants to chew your ear off about your character and wants to the ins and outs of their asshole which is sometimes literally the case. The second is the type that starts affixing their own ideas and ideals onto them and trying to get you to do the same thing...
There is a world of difference between someone being a fanboi of an artist and a fanboi of a character and in saying that I don't mean someone that says they like the character and asks about them a few times, I mean the people that become totally obsessed and start doing things like getting commissions or constantly asking for commissions with the character repeatedly or try to start RP posts with them in the comments and etc.
I take a pretty hard approach to people that I think step out of line because after I started posting pictures of my characters I ended up with a few creeps and socially maladjusted people telling me what they'd like to do with my characters.
If you haven't had to deal with any of the people I've suggested then I'm really glad for you that you haven't.

Oh, I get it now. :)
I thought maybe you meant the 'look at my character isn't she sexy type. I've seen the first type, though I'm not that familiar with the second, can you explain some more?
Yeah, I'd say be a fan, don't be an uber fan. Say you like their work, maybe try and get to know them, but don't expect reciprocation right away.

An example I can think of that uses my characters is that I've had some people try to get me to make them slutty or motherly or something like that by constantly asking me questions that allude to that kind of thing... For example my pink kangaroo Rose has a pouch and she's very egotistic and manipulative. I've had a few people trying to force the idea on me that she should be motherly and sweet and all that and then get upset when I either ignore that or correct them.
Same, and even more. But I gotta admit, the "help me" type... when I was reading that part, I had a certain black wolf/jackal with red bandana in front of my eyes XP
As for the language and typing - I know I do mistakes, but I try my best to type properly. At least as much as I can, given I am not first-hand English user ;3

Nitpick warning: On the last page you say "..you need to prove your honest"[sic], that should be 'you need to prove you're honest."
Just a small typo that when noticed lessens the impact of some of the document. I'm not perfect, I get homonyms mixed in my writing all the time. Just thought you may want to know. Feel free to remove this comment once read. I promise I won't mind.

I don't remember, have you already covered the "My fandom is better than yours" person? Star Wars furries are better than Star Trek furries who are better than Stargate furries and so forth. Or would that just be the other side of the coin for Haters like the "I hate ponies!!!!" person?
Yeah, White Knights are people that defend another regardless of the merit of the accusation or the quality of their friendship or the nature of the offense.
For example, a popular person rips someone off. Clearly and unambigiously. Their fans argue they had their reasons and you're just being rigid.
Things like that. They have no personal stake in it, yet they defend someone else even though they've been caught over the body with the knife in their hand.

If you ask me, doing anything without a good reason is probably not wise.
Though the issue with white knighting is that the cause is defended vehemently, regardless of the right or wrong of the source issue or the person doing it. Usually by people not directly involved in the issue and have nothing to gain by making an argument and feel they must respond because they like the person doing the perceived wrong.

well lustiness is a human emotion and compulsion. Its in non-furry art as well
but yeah when it has no soul in it, then its pretty....well, lame. And the fact that its sometimes done because "An anime did it once" is pretty darn pathetic. And why would you base something on an existing media when you can create your own? :o

Yes, yes, all the yes!
I do not like the people who can't take responsibility for their own actions, blame it on this, that, and the other. Especially when it comes to commissions. "I meant to do it this weekend, but my stupid boss made me work extra hours and then I slept in forever the next day and couldn't get up in time to work on it." And a continuation of that, the false promises. "I know I said I would get it done last weekend. But I promise I will get it done this weekend." That weekend comes and goes and still no commission.
I am always very leery of the "emergency commissions." Yes, there are people out there who have true emergencies and need help. But it is these types of commissions that I see fail more often than any other. The artist takes on more than they can manage and never finishes most of the art. So basically, it was just a fundraiser that you didn't realize you were donating to.
White knights get so annoying. Fifty people do not need to gang up on one person just because their favorite artist called them out. In fact, the artist shouldn't have even mentioned that person in the first place. That's very unprofessional. Put that person on your private black list to never take commissions from again and move on.
It's amazing how many people "leave forever" multiple times. Glad I'm not the only one that things forever means more than six months-year. That's okay. Those people can burn that bridge smaller and smaller until they have nothing left to stand on. I like to think that in the end, everyone gets what is coming to them.

Feel free to fav this if you haven't and spread the code of conduct. :)
Exactly. Personal responsibility is important. For myself, I give artists as long as they need. As long as they don't BS me, they can have as much time as they need. They just better not come up with a new reason every week.
Emergency commissions and 'help me' journals... I watch how often people play them. If it's once in a great while, fine. Though people that do it monthly or weekly or something like that, no. If you have that many emergencies, you need to reevaluate your life. Personally, I say emergency is a word you use in TRUE emergencies. Like calling 911. Don't waste their time because your con plans fell out. You pay for it yourself. If you can't, you don't ask your fans to pay your way. You do it yourself.
I think that if two people have a dispute, they settle it privately, not in public. I think that if you have a problem, you should be able to settle it yourself, or forget about it. Don't bring the fandom into it, and don't step in on X's behalf, they're a grown up, they can handle their own issues.
Ugh. I know one person that did it twice so far and is still here. Came back for a while, now their page is disabled again.

I just thought of another type to avoid; the "Post Reminders Every Day, Twice a Day" guy. Nothing makes me want to unwatch an artist faster than when they post five "reminders" about the same auction/ych in two days. Seriously, some people haven't even been online to see the original upload in their messages before you go posting a reminder. We don't need to be reminded when you won't even let us forget about it.
On a bit of a redesign of him/me, but more or less the tail has a single thick stripe down the middle, and a 'Y' stripe down the back.

I'll admit, I can be a "who asked you" kind of guy sometimes, but its mostly minor details and stuff that seems like it would be important.
Say for example you were drawing twilight sparkle, and you forgot her horn, I would point that out. or say they have a "missing" limb, or something is cut out of frame, I'd ask, but I would never ask to change anything in the picture, just post minor possible errors.

Yeah, but still, what about in my example, like where the gun had no clip. It doesn't affect the content and the artist drew the ref I provided which did not include one and I didn't notice. They didn't care, and I didn't want to put them out, yet everyone had to bring it up until he said 'fine' and put it in.
All because everyone pointed that out.
All because everyone pointed that out.
I've seen many of these in action and honestly don't even click most I need money journals at this point there's so many people who post them. I'm personally guilty of little punctuation and if on chat where speed matters bad spelling too (I actually spend a fair amount of time correcting my post so I don't look like a complete idiot).
My personal fave/type I deal with most is the "That's unrealistic guy" aka the person who complains about stuff like how unrealistic it is for your dragon girl to have boobs completely overlooking the fact that dragons aren't real and they are in a fandom based on humanoid animals. Funny thing is this type often seems to have no problem faving hyper dicks/tits so big that a forklift is needed so they can also be considered the "How dare you like something that's not my fetish guy".

I don't either, unless it's someone that I know personally. Sorry, but I just can't do for everyone. I refuse to help folks that end up in an emergency every weekend. :P
I don't mind an occassional error, but if you're not even trying... :P That I take issue with.
I think that's 'who asked you' guy, but yeah, what's the big deal? We imagine females with breasts. My snake has them even though she's a reptile. She'd look wrong without them to me.

Well then I did good to attract you to my gallery way back when then lol. I know exactly what you mean I always quickly leave without a comment if I stumble into something I don't like though I have shared my thoughts when people have directly asked their watchers about stuff.
Wondering though do you personally consider it a big complement when some one says something to the effect of "I normally don't like this kinda thing but I really enjoy it in this case"? I've always been torn on saying it in post as I personally find it awesome to hear that though have seen someone get annoyed by it in the past.

You were an exception, even though taurs don't really work for me, I did like your pretty cowtaur. :) They look nice, but they aren't really practical creations, in a few senses. I agree that if asked directly, they open themselves to whatever they get.
I think it's a compliment. After all, sometimes I've been won over to things I didn't care for in the past because of a truly good example. ;)

I know one person that listed at least three high dollar items on their christmas list, and I don't care if it's all in fun. I don't believe in giving expensive gifts to people I wouldn't trust with an old bucket, and I only reward those who have earned it. For that matter, I don't care much for public gift lists.
My friend just encountered this gem. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5249582/
I can agree to most of those types, though I wouldn't say they only just reside in the furry fandom, but in nearly all social communities and fandoms around.
Even as they can simply avoided with the attitude: "Don't do anything you don't want others do to you". a little thinking before doing anything and a minimum amount of common sense.
I personally didn't met many of those types. The most common is the "I luv u 4 ever" girl or the "How r u?" guy for me, as I really cannot stand internet speak or how you call it. I know I am not perfect myself, even more as my first language isn't English, but some effort would be nice. I do the same.
As my interest is more in role playing and less in arts, due to little funds and the inability to draw, I get annoyed more about the "promised more than she can provide" girl, the "I'm fine with everything" guy, the "what is effort" guy and the "I own you" guy. Those types really annoy me, as I have to keep facing them on a regular basis.
I know my demands may be higher than those of others, but I doubt they're wrong. As it shouldn't be wrong to have a good role play both parties enjoy.
PS: I like how you word out what you want to say. I cannot place it, but it simply appeals to me.

I'm sure they do, though of course this is specifically the furry edition. ;)
The problem is that most don't think before they do, and then they refuse to admit their part of the mistake. I know one person who disagreed with my standings on a well known court case. They used out of context sayings as 'facts' and refused to even consider the possibility that they were wrong or that we can't possibly really know what happened that night. As far as the facts go, justice was served, but they did not think so. I requested they type properly, but what really angered me was their attitude. They wouldn't even try, and refused to walk away even though I told them several times I will not debate with someone who refuses to use the shift key at 20. I apologized for my part, but they once again, were faultless, because I had called the whole world stupid by saying I expected 'perfect typing' their words, and then they kept replying until I had to block them. I asked, I warned, I told. I blocked.
You do very well for a non english speaker. :)

That is a point and I just wanted to add, that you can take it, with some minor adjustments, and go to any social community or fandom.
For typing, I know I sometimes miss the shift, or something goes through my checking, but we don't talk about that and there you're right, it is a fault of attitude. I guess they simply want to do it their way and when they edge somewhere don't realize or care when they do and so get them and others into trouble. Maybe some do it even on purpose, with what reason ever. But you did right. Ask, warn, block. If they don't get it before they deserve it.
And although I like to discuss this further, I don't think we come to a point, that helps anyone, as I don't think either of us both counts to those people, which are meant. So I thank you for your encouragement. I simply try my best to get the best from other people in return ;)

Thank you for your reassuring words.
Sorry for the long delay too. Got pulled away for quite the time, two weeks says FA. Wow *chuckles*
But I know what you mean. I don't mind if people do some mistakes, here a missing letter, there a comma too much. But when it gets to the point when people don't know how to use caps lock properly, never, or whole sentences get reduced to "how r u?", that is even to worse for me and I either ask them to use proper English or just quit the conversation.

Precisely. I had one user that claimed I insulted the world by demanding 'perfect grammar' (I asked they use caps lock and punctuation three times and never once asked for perfect grammar (though I may be wrong in my use of the word demanding), and refused to apologize even for the sake of peace making because of that perceived insult. Considering that they came to my page and declined to let it go even after I'd asked them to stop responding if they chose not to try, I was forced to block them.
I dislike the "Nitpick And Runs Away" guy. It honestly irks me when some little know-it-all nitpicks something relatively minor instead of giving legitimate complaints, and then runs off when replied to. It annoys me that people ignore all the hard time and effort that went into a piece of story or artwork, and start tearing apart minor things in the story despite having no reason to.
Man I've seen all of those a dozen times over, haha. Reading over it struck a note of "Yep, exactly that." I've decided to go browsing around a bit while stuck in bed. I really don't enjoy watching TV for extended periods of time, so I've been rebrowsing through various odds and ends. This was an interesting read since I can relate to it. I had clicked on it once before but never realized it had a document to download.
As had I. In fact, two or three people inspired most of the entries on this list. I can think of one guy that while he was jobless and homeless, but still found time to check FA daily for porn. Nice to know one's priorities. I'm glad you found it amusing, it's people like this that fail at life that make me feel better about myself in my darkest hours.
Yeah, I think I've been a couple of these myself over the years. ^.^;; I could blame society for teaching me that I don't have to grow up yet (or even my parents perhaps), but I'd much rather admit my own part in it and work to reorder my life to be more awesome. Whatever influence outside forces have had, I still can work to keep my mind in order. Just a matter of turning my habits around.
I'm sure you have, and I know that a lot of developments have changed things in the past couple of generations, not all for the better. The generation growing up with the internet has never had to wait for things. They don't know about summers without AC and life before the internet and how raging online isn't the same as real life, and that in the real world, your decisions are your own.
Sure, we don't control everything that happens to us, but at the end of the day, whatever happens to us is OUR responsibility. I may not be the most epic person that ever lived, but I don't blame others for my mistakes and I take care of them myself whenever possible.

Lucky for me I never had to learn any of these the hard way. I just don't like when people don't even attempt to take care of their own problems. I won't help people that won't help themselves. I understand emergencies and things going wrong, but if you're checking FA while jobless under a bridge, you need to reevaluate your priorities.
Maybe I just noticed it more these days, but I just have always inherently known that we are largely responsible for our own problems, and just being an intelligent person saves half of them. I'm not perfect, I have anxiety issues, among other things, but I know work comes before pleasure and while you can fabricate things with your words and online, your actions speak to your true character.
