Time to retire the plates
I've moved from Virginia and replaced the license plates on my Subaru today, so here's a little photo to commemorate the passing from old to new.

Thank you! I hadn't planned on getting a vanity plate, but it was so cheap in Virginia compared with the costs I'd been used to in California and Washington that I couldn't resist. Even then I was only going to get the vanity lettering but wow... I couldn't say no to a plate that features the SR-71!
Those are some awesome plates!... Well.. I thought I was going to be all clever and do a little research for your new plates... but then I realized that you were moving to CA or WA, so VA plates wouldn't help at all...so I looked up CA-DMV who offered all of ten plates, one offering "Plate Type: Coastal, Initial Cost: $98.00, Annual Renewal Fee: $78.00" .
So then I looked at the WA-DepartmenntOfLicensing and the only real one of interest would be the 'endangered: orca' plate. But then again... "Cars and trucks: $67.75, Trailers: $55.75, To renew:
$30 special plate fee plus your tab renewal fees (Tab renewal fees vary by location and type of vehicle.)
Note:
$28 of fees go to help the Department of Fish and Wildlife identify and recover Washington’s endangered and threatened species.
Fees listed don’t include the cost of vehicle registration or tab renewal. Some offices may charge an additional service fee." (END QUOTE)
I thought that I would be all clever and find a suitable military or aerospace tag for you, but alas..... You just need to move back to VA so you can have that plate again*joke*. I'm glad to find a fellow aerospace enthusiast. My favorite is the F-14C(scram'A'+ram'B'=high Alt. fighter/bomber'C')
That plate of yours was awesome! Thanks for the show and tell!

Ah, no worries. I've actually already replaced my old license plates with a new one which is the reason why I took this photo once it was removed from the vehicle. Perhaps sometime in the future I'll relocate to a state that has a more personally meaningful plate image choice.
