"There are actually two types of red pandas; the Western Red Panda and Styan's Red Panda. Both have identical markings save for the Western Red Panda which has a lighter pelage, particularly on the face. Aside from that, the Red Panda dons the same look. Rusty colored fur on top, black fur below, white ears and muzzle, complete with a banded tail."
For my final sketchbook assignment, I decided to take facts about red pandas and illustrate them with satirical imagery. They will be colored eventually.

Not like cats or dogs, no, but they do have a thicker, calloused padding of skin on their paws. I've looked through loads of reference photos to try to get it right. Very similar to the pads of the Giant Panda. But in these images, I'm not going to be that picky about it.
naw... it's actually fur on the bottom of their feet like Ailurus said. He has some good pictures of it too. It's just fluff, no pads.

I'm enchanted. I'm spellbound. I stand corrected.
On my own, I will log that away for future reference. But as I mentioned, this is an assignment for an art class. I'm being graded on the artwork, not the factual content. If i want to take a little creative liberty and put pads on my pandas, by gum, I'll do it. Should I go and nitpick Ailurus? Red Pandas don't have green eyes you know.
Again, thanks for making me a little less ignorant, but don't hen peck what's intended singly for enjoyment.

heh... i like your paw pads, and my green eyes... and i've never heard a panda talk to me ;)
Of course everyone has his/her creative liberty do do as he/she wants, so there's nothing wrong with that, and your style of drawing pandas is really cute.
The fur on the paws is just another information about real life pandas for anyone interested in it.
*hugs both*

I figured you'd want the info since you like them so much, wasn't trying to be an ass. XD I know when I told Louve that she was super happy because she had been trying to figure the answer out to that as long as I had. I looove red pandas and i just wanted to get everything right when I drew them anatomy-wise. (eye and fur color, whatever, that's design. XD But species and anatomy, I like to get right personally.)
