...or the New Caledonian Giant Gecko, is the largest known living species of gecko on Earth. The native people of New Caledonia refer to this species as "the devil in the trees" due to their many vocalizations and ability to demonstrate territorial behavior.
This beautiful girl is my first leachie. She's actually very sweet...although I realize that may change once she's mature. LOL
She's a juvenile and is expected to get much bigger.

What a cutie! Never seen one of these before, for a minute I thought that she had already lost her tail but they just have short stumpy little tails? :O So strange and adorable :D What have you named her? I have a leopard gecko named Jim, he is unreasonably friendly and easy to handle (he's about 10 years old by now), he bit me all of once but it was more my fault, I had just fed him and he was in hunt mode, and I reached into his enclosure to change his water haha, whoops! Their "lips" are much more beak-ish and sharp/hard than they look! Have you heard her make any noise yet? I've heard jim chirp a couple times in his life but I think they only do it if they're stressed or upset over something D:
These guys tend to cost several hundreds of dollars and don't breed as readily as crested or leopard geckos, hence the big price tag. But yes, leachies have fairly short stumpy tails. They're capable of autotomy (tail dropping) and can regrow lost tails but this gals tail is intact. :) No name yet! I'm waiting 2 weeks to let her settle in and get comfortable before I handle her and figure out a name. She's pretty chill and hasn't made much noise yet. I'm sure the adults are much noisier!
I got my first leopard gecko in July as a birthday present to myself. He's a diablo blanco (white patternless with ruby red eyes.) Named him Pixel. I didn't used to be a fan of leos but Pixel is a neat little dude. When he gets startled (by the water when I mist his tank periodically) he squawks just like a baby bird, it's hilarious.
I very rarely get nipped by a gecko (I keep several crested geckos and gargoyle geckos), but when I do, it's usually not much more than a pinch.

Thank you.
I'm so happy with her. She's got a sweet and curious personality as far as I can tell (she's still settling in.) I've wanted one of these guys for a while and after meeting a few full grown adult leachies last year, I wanted one more than ever. She's actually got a ton of pink on her when she fires up, but she's fired down and relaxed here...I can't wait to see how she turns out as an adult!
