My cartooning studio class in grad school had a segment all about making cool black and white illustrations. We experimented with ink washes made with ink stones, colored pencils, white out, etc. in order to attempt to recreate a black and white photo. Okay, obviously it doesn't really look like the photo. But it was a lot of fun to make! I'd like to do more of this sort of thing in the future.
