So, I made something. After last year, when I twisted some LED christmas lights into my nose ring for Christmas, I figured I could do better with a little preparation.
It was a pretty safe bet.
I call it the "Rudolph Ring", and it's an LED illuminated nose ring. Two LEDs light a fiber-optic light pipe, together powered by a pair of lithium-membrane batteries fitted to my sinuses. The closure is magnetic - if I need to pull this out because a battery is overheating, all it takes is a tug - and it operates when the magnetic contacts are in contact with each other. It's charged by closing the magnets on a specially modified USB charger's contacts, and a braided steel cable running down the light pipe protects it from bending too far, provides structural reinforcement to the light pipe, and completes the circuit between both battery packs.
I had the marketing department take a photo, and draw a cutaway so you can see how the battery pack hides. It's actually quite comfortable, even with those little lumps in there; probably a side-effect of being custom fitted. We're going to see if we can't get these to fit a wider variety of noses by Christmas - I hope we can manage it, it's really a great effect.
