gil!! this is a different gil than the one I’ve drawn before, as this one is an alien in bubblegum’s story. an ally, despite his menacing appearance here, from the neighboring ark, visiting bubblegum’s as a part of his training as a nurse
so like before, gil trivia!
1) he is male and wishes to be called male. he has little respect for the “appropriate” looks of the genders, as many of his people are hermaphroditic, but he dislikes being mistaken for a girl all the same.
2) he chose to become a nurse because he’s interested in alien anatomy and there were already enough doctors on his ark. also he loves the uniform.
3) his hair is actually all sharp quills and is used as a weapon. watch out! they can retract to a point and extend very far, although they tend to lose their flexibility the longer they go.
4) he loves sweet foods!
5) among all the nurses of various shapes and sizes, gil is the most clumsy. he frequently trips and walks into doors.
6) “gil” is a nickname. his whole name is “na’gilla na’zeersareen”
7) while normally quiet and curious, there’s a sadistic side to him that tends to come out the more harmed he becomes. his people were once very tribal and this is actually an ancient biological defense mechanism, mostly bred out but still lingering strongly in gil.
8) he’s older than bubblegum but ages slower, so a point will come when they are both respectively at the same point in their life cycle. by our standards, he’s approximately 17, though the number is trivial without understanding his people’s biology.
9) he is a breed of alien called “the sehaleea,” who once lived on a desert planet, forming enormous, towering cities around the few water sources. they do not actually need to drink much water to survive. they also do not feel heat past their body temperature, which has become potentially dangerous for the sehaleea that work in the boiler rooms on the arks. they are often hermaphroditic and one of the few civilized aliens that can breed with several other species, creating offspring that always resemble the father’s species.
10) an orphan since birth, essentially like bubblegum. gil’s two mothers were sold into servitude and then murdered during a certain infamous incident on his ark. he was raised by the neglectful friends of his mothers.
11) he only has four fingers and three toes!
