Skips is just chilling on a sofa, wanting a companion to keep him company. Perhaps there is someone there, and he's asking if they would like to join. There's space enough on the sofa, he thinks. And he wouldn't mind the close contact. He'd prefer that. Just to have someone there to be close to. He'd like that. And if that goes well enough...who knows what might happen after.
This was a bit of a spur of the moment commission that I got. I've been following Wave-Line's (or Mirdon, as he's known on dA) art for a few months now, because I'm quite a fan of the style he has in his art. There's a good amount of, I don't want to say realism, but believability in his art. He had been doing a few streams recently, so I jumped in one to see his art, and I realize that he had a stream commission slot open. Like I said, spur of the moment, and so I decided to take it.
I really wanted to see how my Fursona would look in his style, because it's that sort of style that I'm a big fan of and would actually like to learn how to draw myself. I didn't ask for much, just Skips relaxing in his shorts. Left most everything up to the artist. So that little story bit I crafted I crafted above, that was just something I came up with to fit with the picture. And I also think it fits with the character (and myself) currently. Companionship is something much desired.
Anyways, I watched Mirdon stream this, and it was awesome watching this piece get made. Hopefully, I learned a few things. The final piece turned out awesome. I was right when I thought Skips would look great in that style. There are a few things I love about it specifically. One is the head. Just the expression and, well, anatomy of it. Plus the floofly neck. Mirdon did a great job with that, and I love fluffy. Second thing I love is the paw. I've been wanting a good paw shot of my character for a while now, and this is the best one yet. I love it.
This commission makes me want to draw more, because I want to work on my style. I want to be able to draw my own character to look awesome like this. So that's a very good thing that came out of commissioning this. Also, I would love to commission Mirdon again, because, well, I think it's worth it. Would love to see Skips in this style more often.

Neck fluff? Check.
Cute Paws? Check.
Kitty cat? Check.

Would hug.
On a more serious note, I really like this piece. There's a certain kind of intensity coming from it which are brought out by the gaze. The artist has a great style, and he/she did your character some justice.

Funny. Those are some of the same criteria I use to determine hugability. What a coincidence. Heh. And I would totally hug back.
And yes, you're right, that is a rather intense gaze. I like it a lot. Really would like to commission the artist again. I just love what he did. So, yeah, thanks!
