Fantastic. Just what the wine drinking, scientist cockroach needs. To further throw himself into a society who may never understand what the hell his license plate means. You are the best. That's all I can say. It's not just a name, it's an epic legend.
Now I know why people say "One day cockroaches will rule the world." though I think it might just be one...
This probably makes no sense, but I don't care.

seems to be a disturbing trend, of high degree technical labor becoming 'a dime a dozen' with places like nasa, nation science foundation, and other R&D places really scaling back it's scary. and it's so annoying to hear " encourage kids to get into math and science" and I wonder, why? other than intellectual satisfaction that is.
Well hope of enjoy what and where you can. my own career had been 'go where the work is and groove on it' but then I ended up in an awful niche field, such is life. at least I am employed, for now...

As the state I consider to be officially 'my home' (lived there 30 of my 45 years), I sincerely wish you well there and hope that you will come to regard it with as much fondness as I do (although, I agree some of the politics are disheartening).
Raleigh is a great central location for the state and if you've not visited the mountains of North Carolina (Asheville, Boone, ANYWHERE along the Blue Ridge Parkway), then I highly recommend a trip there (my old stomping grounds). You're also in reasonable distance to the beach and the outer banks are splendid.
Good luck with your new job!

Welcome to a state closer to FWA and us GA furs.
"Can I come visit you?
You should know that I am very fond of spiders, and encourage them to take up residence in my home. Maybe it's better if we meet for coffee someplace!"
Heh....we do the same at our house. Lots of spiders, but I understand what you mean.

Wow... My aunt moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina 5 years ago... In fact, I was visiting her DURING the time of Anthrocon after having just discovered myself as a furry a year prior...
As you stated though, the politics held aren't exactly the most... open, and being 15 at the time I glazed down sadly at the convention center from the highway as we drove the moving truck out to her second (now only) home in NC. ...funny enough though I was listening to a live radio show that was talking about the convention and I took great solstice knowing how close I was to an almost literal town of furries so close to me.
I still live in the great desert mountains of Nevada though and plan on attending my first furcon (BLFC) soon though! I Wish you the best in you're new home and hope all goes well! (also, I'm kind of interested in the field of Emergency Management and would love some pointers from an experienced man if you have the time) :) With Sincerity - Sierrapup ^..^~
