Trachelas sp. again, this time a "portrait" of sorts.
This is not up to par on what I would like my quality to be, but I like this shot because you can actually see her fangs poking out of the bottom of her chelicerae.
Right now, I'd estimate maybe 50% or more of the people who view this have run screaming from their computer monitor.

I've always wondered about that fear of spiders and why we have it. It's so primal in some people. I guess once upon a time we we're chased by them...haha!
I like spiders too but it's seems the little ones still creep me out more than the large ones for some reason. Great pictures, they're amazing creatures!

I've yet to figure it out. It's such a common fear.
Even I have it, although I've gotten a lot better about it. I'm so fascinated by these things and I love them, but I have this irrational reaction that doesn't make sense. People don't have such a common fear of other animals such as cats or dogs, yet those were much more dangerous to early man than any spider.
Again, I've gotten better at least (especially doing this kind of photography).

I'm absolutely fascinated by spiders... I can't resist checking them out up close whenever I find them. That said, the idea of one crawling on me gives me the willies something fierce. No idea why that is... maybe they're just too alien, compared to what we mammals are used to.
Even if it's not up to par with your standards, it makes it no less of a good shot.
You can make out the textures of the exoskeleton rather well.
The flash had the neat effect of making the eyes look translucent.
And somehow she almost looks like she floating ever so slightly above the surface of the blanket.
