Bet you weren't expecting a photo from me, eh? X3
Taken near the end of the Cape Cod Railway. This would be facing away from the southern terminus. Taken on 23 February 2008, in Hyannis, MA.
I absolutely *LOVE* trains. :3 Railroads and trains themselves, not to mention the signaling equipment, and even finding abandoned railway corridors, everything about them fascinates me ^^

There's lots more abandoned lines over here X3 Looking at satellite images of out west, you can see them all the time, especially with these 'oasis' towns, where there's nothing for miles, and this tiny lil' town in the middle of nowhere, sometimes you see lines going to some of those towns =3
There's an abandoned corridor running through my town, actually ^^ If you know where to look, you can still see the grading for the line, which hasn't been used for over 50 years ^^ It's kinda neat, too, that there's a new development in the way of where the line used to go, but there's a circle of trees in the middle of the cul-de-sac, and they lined the original trail with rocks so you can see where it was ^^

Yeah, where I grew up, there was a little branch line into the nearest city. But the line used to go right through the town onto other towns, and the track has been flattened and turned into a cycle path. When I was like 5, my walk to school involved walking over this huge, old, grand bridge which just crossed over this little path. x3
hehe ^^ I love seeing bridges that are no longer in use. I actually been on one that was originally intended as a flyover for I-95 Southbound to I-93 East, but they cancelled building I-95 north of I-93 (it now merges with it), so the flyover never carried traffic. Though when I went there to take pictures, I was very startled to be greeted by a pair of headlights, so we ran off - turns out it IS used for maintenence, as they've built maintenence garages on the other side apparently X3;
There was some ambitious motorway building in Glasgow in the 60s, but they ended up cutting back a lot, and leaving loads of stuff like this:

The cancellation of I-695 caused several ramp stubs as well. Take a look! http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&.....04705&z=19
