In the home stretch of this cat head project. The eyes and nose have yet to be affixed. Lots and lots of airbrushing is in my future, as this is supposed to be a tabby cat. There will be white fluff in the ears, too. I'm really happy with how it is turning out so far!
Eyes put in the wrong places for HILARIOUSNESS
I might make bigger eyes, and maaaaaybe a bigger nose. What do you think?

I made a paper pattern that I transferred to the bowl using a really dark, soft pencil. I roughly cut the eye out with some scissors, but you have to be super careful with those! If you cut the wrong way, you crack the plastic. Once I had it cut out roughly, I switched to a utility knife. You score the outline over and over again very carefully until you are most of the way cut through the plastic. Watch your fingers, the knife can slip easily. You can go back in with scissors at that point to cut the line. The inside was done with a utility knife, then cleaned up with a Dremel tool. I went through a bowl and a half just getting two eyes. You just gotta go real slow and careful. A Dremel tool helps a TON.
I don't really have a specific character in mind, I'm just going for ultra toony tabby cat. It's a DVC toony nose, but you see suits all the time with itty bitty features because they feel they are locked into using the parts they bought. Looks like the general consensus is I should go bigger on the nose, so I will put this nose aside for another project.
I was considering bigger eyes to increase my visibility. These eyes turned out so freaking awesome, though XD If I don't use them now, I'll hold onto them for something else. Thanks for your input!

Haha. Those eyes. You're silly.
Anyway if you keep stuff the same size then cool but if you supersize the eyes make the nose bigger as well. Just my two cents. If anything cut out some pieces of paper of the nose size you were thinking & have a side by side posted on FA if you need the advice. A four picture collage of template parts...
A) little eyes / big nose
B) little eyes / little nose
C) big eyes / little nose
D) big eyes / big nose
It will be like the ask the audience life line on who wants to be a millionaire. Normally a panel of your peers can be pretty helpful.

I think the only way to know if it's too many darts is to dive in and see if it works. I actually furred my cat's face twice 'cuz the first skin was too baggy, and I had shaving problems. When I made my pattern the second time, I had a better idea of where to put cut lines and darts.
