Makin' a Grunt suit, I am. Learning all sorts of weird new techniques and getting a little proud of the sculpt so far. There's a heck of a lot to do, but it's fun. Yay,

... very :P
I did use an armature I made from a hanging planter basket, cardboard, duct tape and aluminium foil, so it's a lot less heavy (and expensive clay-wise) than it could be. Still easy enough to lug around the house thankfully.
The mould is going to be horrible though - not looking forward to that part!

Hehe. Got another idea for you too. Make the inverted version of what you want to make a mask of and then latex it p and walla! lol
wish I could help... I'm learning myself! Basically I just bought the stuff, then made an armature from a hanging planter basket, aluminium foil and duct tape (because if this thing was solid clay it'd weigh like 20 kilos and the clay would be stupidly expensive), slapped the warmed clay on then mooshed it into shape using a mini papercraft grunt head and a printout of his head as referenences. Really I've not done any practice or had any training, just kinda brute forcing it :P
I do know that there are places that teach you some basic techniques - I did a one day sculpting primer with a local guy and learned a little but that was only a month ago or somesuch. There are a lot of good youtube tutorials and some great webpages - I kinda researched it like mad and then bought stuff.
