Sarah wasn’t someone I should want or need. She was socially unacceptable, promiscuous, and a creature others questioned you for wanting to be anywhere near. Logically I should have told her that I felt nothing for her and let her move on with her life. She had told me it would be okay if I didn’t. That would have been a lie though. I did feel something for her. I just had to be certain that attempting this relationship wouldn’t be regrettable for either of us. She had a lot longer to live with the consequences of everything we’d go through.

And then it suddenly hit me as my mind traveled back to the old ship maps she’d shown me. There had been so many uncharted locations in those times. If those sailors had let that stop them, then maybe they wouldn’t have discovered the beautiful locations that existed in their lifetime. A smile lit my face as I finally felt at ease again. She was uncharted territory yes, but I shouldn’t have been afraid to try. I’d been so scared with all my previous relationships failing miserably, that I hadn’t looked at the positives that could come from my love for her. Something amazing could come from this and if it didn’t, we could move on having learned from the experience. I had the choice to stay there worrying forever or I could just go for it.

“Sarah.” I leaned over her shading her face my tail wagging a bit behind me.
“Azshari, what are you doing?” her eyes opened probably expecting me a bit farther away.
“I love you.” I whispered.
“I know.” She giggled but her voice sounded pained.
“No you don’t. I haven’t shown you yet.” I stared at her.
“You have. My brother loves me t-”I didn’t let her finish that statement before pressing my lips to hers.
“I love you, too.” She reached up and held my face when I pulled away.

My smile grew wider even as a mischievous smirk started to form on her face. She was up to no good, but then when was she ever.
