To be honest, I was thinking on the novels when I drew this (But I did searched for some references on uniforms and such)... I couldn't stand the old movie since it's a bit too different from the book, watching it's on my list of stuff yet to be done!
By the way, the Dune miniseries (Dune 2000 and Children of Dune) are very good and a close adaptation to the books =P
