This is a simple little write up of how to make the follow me Eyes I use in my heads. This was very short and simplistic. I am always free to answer any questions on them. As for a few things I forgot to mention :
Try and clean up the cuts on the bottle plastic. Smooth it out as best you can and try and make them flat cuts...
On the Iris - use one side - just one! write on that side... glue on that side... that's it!! One! Uno!
Cupping the foam and the plastic is hard... a gentle tough sometimes works better. Lightly support the plastic to just hold the foam there. Then glue.
The bottoms are open - I know... but it's not usual that I have people looking down on me.. and when inserted into the head and layered with another bit of mesh and a eye outline - no one hardly notices...
insert them into the head to check BEFORE you glue them in.
And also - last thing... plastic melts... be careful how you glue with HOT glue.

no - I believe the eyes will work even if they are squarish. The thing that really makes it work with the "follow" effect is actually an optical illusion. and just has to do with the font and the back objects and how they sit in space compared to you viewing them. it's kinda an interesting trick.
I was just following this tutorial and instead of using scissors to cut the top part, I found out that a seam ripper works very well. Just punctur above your line and apply a little force and voila! SO much easier than with scissors (tried that at first).
Just thought you might find it useful.

Well this is one method of doing it - You may have to play with it a bit to get the eyes just right, but in essence it's that easy. It's an old optical illusion. It really does work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycwN.....e=channel_page < my head.

If you have any questions on making these, i'd be happy to help! :3

this is interesting i never thought of making the followme effect around the iris. i ussually cut out the shape of the overal eye and add a border too it. it can be obviouse were the separation it but in this case its not! the only thing i would say is that it limits the shape veriety of the eye but other than that this is a realy smart method. mind if i give it a try on a head?
no, by all means try it out - change things about it if you like. Really - the idea behind it comes from my experience drawing - you always start with a circle for the eyes, but you can add lids to the bottom and the top - Also using strong eye "liner" around the outside can help to pull the eye into different shapes. :3 let me know if you use it for anything cause I'd love to see it! :D
