Something I made years ago for a costume- Quake armor!
Its actually a decently heavy cotton twill with blocks of computer foam cut and bevelled and sandwiched between the layers, with a zipper closure down one side and velcro'd shoulder straps that the should pieces attach to.
Gives it some adjustability, and makes it easier to get on and off.
Its actually fooled people who have seen it RL into asking me if it was real armor- and it would actualy work as such for airsoft or paintball.
(Paintball would not be recommended though- the paint would be a bitch to remove afterwards.)
The photo shows it modelled by my room mate; it looks better on me because he is a little too small for it to hang correctly.
Size is a 46 chest. (XXL for American shirt sizes.)
The bottom edge is actually darted to tuck it in- making for the close, form fitting shape.
I can barely fit into it now- though I did put it on today, and its tight but still wearable- and I am now about a 48 chest.
(Ken, who is wearing it is about a 42 chest.)
Only wore it a few times, and I believe I will offer it for sale if I can figure out where to do so..
$50, plus shipping if anyone here is interested. :)
(Its really light, so shipping will be cheap.)
I plan to make a new chestpiece for myself.....looking into science fiction armors I have seen and liked for ideas. :)
