two characters of mine engage in the age-old bonding experience of the drinking game. for time immemorial men, women, and furs have all enjoyed the thrill of drinking themselves into oblivion - while everyone does the same and has fun!
the first of these two characters is Christopher a coyote (and DON'T make jokes about his name! he hates it!) and it seems that he's learning the tough lesson that dragons hold their liquor a lot better than their smaller, furrier friends. Christopher had been in the military as a swordsman, until he proved to be a little too. . . . overzealous (his commander found him hacking up fruits just for fun. kind of worried them, so they kicked him out.
Chris' buddy to the right is Luchas, the green dragon. Luchas had been drafted into the air force but found himself favoring the easy, country life too much to go into battle. so he stole away one night and has been running from the lawman ever since. when he met up with Christopher it seemed very fitting that they "join forces" and travel together.
they travel the land acting as kind vigilantes - like Robin Hood, if you will. stealing from the rich, giving to the poor - and generally "sticking it to the man". wherever there's a maiden in trouble, a damsel in distress, a village in need of a hero - a tankard of ale to be emptied - there you will find Christopher and Luchas, lending their hands to the aid of good.

this piece marks a mile-stone for me. it's the first cell-shaded piece that i am very, very pleased with and INCREDIBLY fond of.
also, this is a good example of the caliber of work i am selling to help Xoa and Xan - two furs in desperate need of some rent money. if you would read my journal you will see that i am offering $20 commissions for pieces like THIS!!!

chris looks like he is about to realize what you described, that dragons can stomach more alcohole that ten parched dwarven warriors. :) lifting a hand to announce he's had enough and now will kindly fall unconcious, wake me when I'm dead thankeeverymuchdearsir. *drops*
Luchas enjoys himself, probably counting the ales his friend has already had.
men and their simple joys. :)
the cel shading does indeed rock seriously. the image itself looks a bit dark, though, but that may be due to my crappy monitor.

i'm considering lightening this piece up on Photoshop. i noticed while looking at it at my boyfriend's computer that it is considerably darker than on my laptop. i have my laptop specifically calibrated for my needs, and it took me almost thirty minutes to do so. i don't think everyone is as anal as me about how they calibrate their monitors.
